- Bad Mazda Serivce, Bad Warrenty, Horrible Engine
Purchased As New
Bought the car with 16k miles, now has 70k and engine blows. Mazda will NOT stand by their cars and have a bad warrenty to boot. There is no reason a car with low miles should be doing this. Mazda doesn't car. Now I have to spend $2,500 to rebuild or $7k for NEW. Really? Try building a NON Interferrence Engine!! Try building QUALITY!! People talk about how it drives and looks, that doesn't get you down the road people!! I still have 3 years to pay on this POS.
Mazda doesn't care and won't stand by their own vehicles. Totally disapointed and Mazda has lost another customer!...read morehide

- Just the right size for our family, love the Bose stereo 6 cd changer, leather, and the power
- I wish the floor mats weren't black and I am not crazy about the material that is on the roof
Purchased As New
I purchased my 2008 CX-7 Touring edition in March 2009 b/c of the rebates since I was trading in. I love it. I had a newer model Suburban that I referred to as the Subur-bus because I felt like I was driving a school bus. The CX-7 is much better on gas than my Suburban and according to the manual you can use regular gas. You don't have to use premium. I have gotten 22 mpg on the first two tanks so that's pretty good. I love the color the most - I got it in Icy Blue which is so gorgeous. It has some serious get up and go too so my husband doesn't mind driving it either. I gave up some of the extras that I had with the Suburban, but it has enough options that I don't feel cheated. The only real dislike I have found is the dash and the floor mats are black while my seats and the rest of the interior are a light sand (grayish-tan). I hate that the floor mats are black and I have to keep a swiffer duster in my console to dust the dash since the black shows every little speck of dust. Overall I think it is great....read morehide

- Great power for a 4cyl; awesome Bose stereo; good fuel economy for CUV;handles like veh 1/2 its size
- requires premium fuel; see below...
My fiance' bought a CX-7 in June 2008 after deciding that her Pontiac GTO was not conducive to our growing family. We each have children from previous marriages and you cant put 5 people in a GTO! We looked at pretty much every CUV option out there, from every maker(including Lexus, Volvo, Audi, etc) and the CX-7 was chosen for several reasons: Styling, Available options, Mazda reputation for quality(my extended family owns 6 Mazdas), handling/power and "bang for your buck." Two weeks after she got it we drove approximately 1000 miles round trip for vacation. While quite a bit smaller, it is much more comfortable than my Ford Expedition XLT...and gets alot better gas mileage. The controls for everything are laid out pretty well, and are easily accessable. The only negatives I can think of are: No ipod/mp3 player interface unless you buy the Nav/DVD package(which she didn't really want); you better have a good grip on the steering wheel if the turbo kicks in while making a turn from one road to another; rear 12v outlets would be nice. In all actuality, those negatives are just splitting hairs. The CX-7 handles great overall, very responsive in traffic and has great power. One of her main concerns was that she would eventually hate it because she was going from a 6.0 Liter V8, to a 4cyl. The high output engine, combined with the turbo alleviated that concern fairly quickly and she considers the trade one of her best decisions over the last couple of years. Acceleration is smooth, breaks are great....read morehide

- Looks, performance and AWD
- None (yet)
Bouth the '08 AWD sports model in 9/08. I have previously owned five Mazdas and have never had any issues with any of them. I have received many compliments on the looks of the vehicle, and I tell them it is fun to drive. Living in PA, I'm anxiously awaiting the snow to come - as I'm real interested in seeing how well the AWD does in the snow!!!...read morehide

- Fun and easy to drive, great value, attractive vehicle
- A few minor features aren't included, stock wheels are ugly
I bought a 2008 Cx7 Grand Touring AWD Model with the Navigation, Bose stereo and Sunroof packages in the Black Cherry color 2 months ago and I love it!
Just be sure to spend the extra and get the Grand Touring model! The interior is so nice, and not having an actual key is SO handy when you have your hands full and need to lock or unlock the vehicle. I do actually use the backup camera - especially when it is dark because I also had the front windows tinted. The Bose stereo sounds awesome! It also handles great and is comfortable and roomy, especially coming from a Mazda 3, as I did.
Howver, I do think they should have included the Bluetooth and MP3 features. I know they added the Bluetooth on the 2009, so that's probably not even an issue anymore. The stock wheels need to be replaced with some custom ones to really make it look great. All in all, it's a great vehicle and I'm very happy with it!...read morehide

- Great handling, acceleration, and brakes
- Ventilation for rear passengers
We purchased ours from Jim Ellis in Marietta GA in Feb 2008 after test driving the Murano, 4Runner, Pathfinder and also a Civic. We love it!!! This is thing has excellent handling and great acceleration. Jim Ellis was very easy to deal with. We paid around $20,500 before fees. This isn't a luxury car. It's a the perfect car for people who love driving and need a more practical car than a sports car. The autostick is great but the regular automatic works so well that you rarely need to switch over to autostick. It's the best car we could find in our price range. Truely handles like it's on rails!!! We did have one warrantee repair on a "Turbo Tensioner" that needed to be replaced at around 6mos old. It was a faint rattle near the turbo charger. However we were given a loaner and within 2 days we were back in it with no other issues since. That's what the warantee is for. Fuel MPG is OK, we average 20mpg+/- in bumper to bumper Atlanta traffic, our 2004 Accord 4cyl coupe got 24mpg in the same traffic. We now get 23mpg Hwy....read morehide

- Power. Awesome brakes. Headlights. Stability in all weather. Worth more than it costs
- None that are unforgivable with smart choices.
Outside temp is the AMB button on the bottom of the center console. Inside temp selection readout (Automatic Climate Control equipted) changes to reflect this. Ipod, Bluetooth, and MP3 imputs located in the center console and glovebox and accessed by the "Media" button on the stereo. (Bose only) Yeah, I know it's inconvienent, but they're there. I get 21 mpg mixed and 25-6 mpg hwy at 70 mph, 45k on the original tires...so far. Keep your foot out of the power band all the time. Sport Shift does have +&- indicators. Look at the shift gate. No clunking here. Trying leaving the Traction Control on all the time. Button is beside the headlight adjustment, left side lower dash. And read your Owners Manual, folks. It IS your car....read morehide

- Power, smooth, quiet, blast to drive, gorgeous looks
- Blind spots, no IPOD interface or external temp gage
I am getting 24 on the highway and 21 mixed. I bought it for $21,501 with 13 miles on it. I feel guilty - I am sure I will get over it- what a value! Mileage could be better but would come at trade off for power.
I see a corelation between comments like "Great power but poor mileage, tires wear out, drives like a sports car." If you don't like your mileage you may want to take your foot out of it. I drive with the cruise set and have no complaints.
I also have no turbo lag but then again maybe because I am not tromping on it I don't notice.
The torque in this vehicle is huge at 258 lb-ft....read morehide
