- comfort, full of options
I just bought this car today. I ended up getting the Grand Touring FWD with DVD player and the GPS. I was shopping for a SUV for about 3 months and this one was the best. I still cant get over all the options and awesome look for such a good price. I was comparing it with the Audi Q7, and I like the Mazda much better! I went to the Orlando dealership, Holler/Classic. I was so impressed with the sales, financing, and management there. I would recommend anyone....read morehide

Is way better than the ford edge or any thing out there. Is not small or big it just right and still can fit 7 people. In Comfort is a plus it's fun to drive easy to park.It took 2 mouth to find the right car for the right price and 6hrs it the dealer on a Sat. I would do it all over again if I had to buy this car....read morehide

- All the features of a luxury utility vehicle, excellent service, amazing amount of space
I love my Grand Touring CX-9. It drives smoothly, has ever feature you can imagine, and a killer sound system to boot. I have the navigation/backup camera, which is great if there is something or someone too low to view through the back window. I can't imagine going back to a car. The space is amazing.
I had test driven the FJ Cruiser (awful mileage, and requires premium gas), the Pathfinder (kind of boxy), and the 4 Runner (very plain.)
The CX-9 has great pickup, awesome curves, and is as much fun to drive as a sportscar!...read morehide

- Styling, Sporty Feel, Interior Comfort, Quite, Fit and Finish
- Lacks some extras for a SUV in this price range, See Review
First off let me say our family looked for about 6 months before buying a new SUV. We had a 2000 Ford Expedition EB and were looking to down size. We looked at the Volvo CX90, Toyota Highlander, Acura MDX, GMC Acadia, Hyundai Santa Fe, Hyundai Veracruz, Mazda CX-9, and what we already had the Ford Expedition. The SUV had to have a third row seat and get better gas milage than what we had.
Picked the Mazda CX-9, Really liked the styling of this SUV. The streering wheel is smaller than your normal SUV and took some getting use to but we like it. Car just has a sporty feel to it not like a mini van. As some reviews have mentioned the ride is stiffer to give a huge the road feel but it's not too harsh. Getting in and out of the third row seats is easy and you have a good view out the front over the second row of seats (Unlike the Highlander and MDX). Really enjoy the Navigation System and the Bose Stereo.
We do miss the little things. Trip computer, Memory on the side mirrors to go with the seats, auto locking doors at ** mph, Ford's door key pad to unlock the doors.
We have 5000 miles on ours so far and only problem we have had is the door henge on the driver side is making a creeking sound. Dealer had to order part. MPG has been about what was estimated. City at 18 and Highway at 22.
Bottem line is we love to drive the thing!...read morehide

- Great Value, looks, easy access 3rd row, bluetooth phone
- Bumpy ride at times, no height adjustment on pass side seat.
I looked at several cars: Honda Pilot, Nissan Murano, Saturn Outlook, Acura MDX, MBZ R350 and ML350, Volvo XC90 and decided to buy the Mazda CX9 Grand Touring FWD. I did not get the navigation and B/U camera since I did not need it.
This car was the best value for what they offered, it looks great, rides great, Bose system sound wonderfull and it's very powerfull when passing other cars on the road and FWY. I truly enjoy driving this car. Also we were looking for a seven passenger seating option, and this car's third row was the easiest to get in and out from. My kids love getting in the last row. Bought the extended Mazda warranty so I have 5 year/100K mile full warranty.
Love it.........highly recommended!!...read morehide

- Best looking SUV, great performance, quiet and smooth ride. 7 pass seating. Good ride at all seat po
- Could use a retractable running board.
I believe that the Mazda CX-9 is the best looking SUV on the road today. During the one month I have had the car, five people, men and women, have stopped me to get a closer look at the car or to ask how I liked it. Obviously, I do like it very much. The ride is superb at all seating positions, and road noise and engine noise is minimal - very quiet. Engine and transmission combination makes for good performance. I like the long sleek look. Best red color of all cars - copper red mica. I like the keyless entry and start. And 20 inch wheels - WOW...read morehide

- Suspension, transmission engine, comfort
I picked up my CX-9 GT Tuesday, 2/14/07. Some observations:
Something that really impressed me is how it absorbed speed bumps. Almost like an active suspension. And no pitching rebounding. When city governments learn about this they could outlaw the suspension,
Door-closing sound of all doors is that of a mega-buck limo.
Brake "Pinch-out" control, something I don't remember reading in a review was way above average. As a driver, we're rarely aware of it, but if we look at our passenger's head as we come to a complete stop, we see it.
SST is OK ... much better than PRNDL, but I don't like it. Reason: It will still kick down at heavy throttle, and leave it in that gear until the driver calls for an upshift.
Sun visors have a very nice extension to block out the sun that enters between main visor & B-Pillar.
Front power windows (both) have express down AND UP. Also, will respond to a tap on the switch with a 1" drop.
Engine sound I would describe is throaty/healthy. Transmission shift quality is the best I've ever experienced. Absolutely no squeaks or rattles. Slight amount of wind noise at highway speed. Liftgate up & down is a one-finger effort (the lack of a power liftgate is a non issue).
"Smart Key" : the driver only needs to have it on his/her person (pocket, purse) in order to unlock the door with a single push on a small button on the exterior door handle. Two pushes within 15 seconds unlocks all doors. Then when starting, merely turn the start knob ... no key required. The key stays in my pocket.
When leaving the vehicle, one push on the little button locks all doors. It can be programmed by the dealer to automatically lock all doors when you get more than ~ 30 from the vehicle. Kinda spooky.
The CX-9 system seems to be an improved Denso system like that in the Lincoln LS. The female voice sounds the same. It responds to "I'm Hungry" by showing restaurant icons, It usually gets my voice command right on the first try. No screen clutter when I attempt an on-screen scroll. More POI's, larger address book. Functionally far superior and screen is larger than Pioneer screen. I believe it's 7" diagonal vs. 6.5". This, when accompanied by less screen clutter, makes it much better ... for me. A nice feature of the nav system is the ability to tap "display" , then select any one of three screen tilt angles.
Fit & finish: Excellent. No defects found yet. I did a couple of walk-arounds looking for damage and consistency of margins. The real test will come when I wash it.
Steering effort at highway speed is a bit too heavy for my taste. Probably due to my preference to steer with thumb & forefinger 7:00 o'clock position on steering wheel.
Some features I like: Rain-sensing wipers, Sun Visor extensions, Grocery bag storage in rear compartment (also 4 bag hooks), Sliding & reclining second seat, 3-zone climate control, "Cancel" feature on speed control.
Very easy access to both second & third seats. The rear doors are very large, and open 70 degrees. So, if you'll ever be transporting any less-than-agile people, or have to struggle with a child's seat in the second row, this could be of value.
Transmission gear indicator is located between speedo & tach. It indicates whether in auto or manual mode, and always indicates which of the six gears is engaged.
"Tip-in" throttle control: It's fairly easy to get a gentle start from rest, eliminating passenger neck snapping.
Last night in a run on the expressway, I did a WOT kick-down from ~60 MPH. The only physical sensation was a prompt significant increase in acceleration. The shift indicator showed that it had done a 6-3 kick-down.
The more I drive the "9", and the more I discover about its features, the more I like it. So far, the Delight/Disappointment ratio is very high. The accumulation of all the thoughtful features causes me to feel that I've made a new very good friend that I want to spend time with. Haven't felt this way since my first Lincoln LS....read morehide

- Great styling design for the interior and exterior,features,Handling,value,3rd row seat, size
- mpg could be better, difficult entry due to rake of windshield
I dont care about the cons. Why? This suv is the best handling, best styling, best performance and best value of all the suv/cuv's!! I love this car !! I traded in a LEXUS 330 SUV for this CX9.Why? It handles better, looks great and cost almost 11,000.00 less. While Lexus is pursuing perfection, i now drive a ' Zoom-Zoom" MAZDA CX-7!!!
This 3.5 v6 engine is as impressive as the Maxima Q12 v6. Untill i drove the CX9 i thought the Maxima was the best.
I get alot of comments from people who see this car about how sharp the styling is.
My final comments. Buy IT,Drive IT and you will love IT !!!...read morehide
