- Gets horrible gas mileage in the city!
Purchased As New
I really like the way it rides. Its roomy, seats 7 comfortably. Wish that the gas mileage was alot better. I'm getting 13 mpg in the city.

- Great price for all that you get. Runs on regular!
- Not much to gripe about.
I owned many different SUV's including high end models. It comes off kind of pompous listing the makes and models, so let's just say that I've driven them all.
I was pleasantly suprised when I test drove the Mazda CX9 with the quality of workmanship and the handling. After test driving several other makes, I made the choice to buy the CX9. After two months and 2000 miles driving (including snow) I know that I couldn't have made a better choice. The Mazda CX9 has gotten great reviews because it is a terrific car and the dealer is first class....read morehide

- drives great, quiet
- a little slow out the gate, interior trim is scatching up after 5k miles
Overall we are happy. Only downfalls:
-Mileage not as good as we thought and no mpg guage
-The voice activated blue tooth seamed nice, but we never use it(jsut too hard to use) althoughw e do use it for regular bluetooth
-We have a silver type moldings on door and center counsele and the paint must be really cheap. it has multiple scratches already from rings etc....read morehide

- Rides like a dream, roomy, fun car
- fuel economy, must choose on accessories
I love my car. It rides like a dream and is much roomier than everything I considered. It has nearly 3000 miles on it and I picked it up in early March. The only negative is the fuel economy and that you can't get your car fully loaded. It was either the entertainment system or the sunroof. I feel they should resolve this in the future....read morehide

- Handling, performance, sound system.
- I wish the fuel economy was better.
This vehicle is awesome. It drives like a car. We have driven it about 4K and are completely thrilled. We have a loaded Grand Touring model. The DVD/stereo sytem is incredible. Good acceleration and handling. Third row seat is not for adults, but for kids it works great. Rain sensing wipers work fantastic and is a great option. I would recommend this vehicle to anyone....read morehide

- Interior space bigger then most without large vehicle feel, rides like a caddy
- Recent purchase, no cons to share
Having had multiple new SUVs (BMW X3, Chevy Tahoe, and S10 Blazer) over the years - considering a Mazda SUV/crossover wasn't really on my mind until I decided I needed more interior elbow room.
Then I read about the Motor Trend award, kicked the tires at the local car show, and decided to consider it. Since my wife is the primary driver, she had the last word...(as if...lol). The vehicle is fairly scarce to buy with decent options here in AZ, but I knew I wanted the Grand Touring variant with a tow pkg.
The vehicle I found was priced less then comparable luxury 'utes with more wiz bang technology then I could have imagined. We're still playing with all the technology almost a month later !! The in ceiling gameboy/DVD player with wireless controller, and wireless headphones will surely satisfy the little darlings !!
Safe to say I've done my due diligence on this vehicle and compared it to almost everything currently available. One thing I did find in my analysis is NOT to consider the GM variants (Outlook, Acadia, Traverse...). Why? Supposedly they're not engineered as well as the Mazda CX-9 and mechanics who've worked on both after 20k miles have shared - hands down the CX-9 has fewer issues, better engineering and will have a longer life then the GMs.
Being a GM guy - I wanted to hear otherwise...but appreciated their information sharing.
So - without hesitation I share with you the Mazda CX-9 is the 'best of the bunch'. Don't buy it thinking it will get the best gas mileage - it won't. Do buy it thinking it will carry seven more comfortably then most, with one of the highest cubic inch interior storage with the rear seats folded down.

- Smooth, Beautiful, I love this car!! Very happy with the purchase
- Not as great in the snow as my jeep was...
This ride is fantastic. I would recommend this vehicle to all! There is room for everybody - the back doors open wider than on other vehicles - makes it easy for my dog to hop right in. I love it!

- Beautiful exterior, interior. Smooth transmission. Sweet engine. Backup camera, bose system
- City Gas mileage is not so great. Bluetooth is only voice-activated.
This is an amazing SUV. We bought it after looking at the Veracruz and the new Highlander. The CX9 handled better than the veracruz, and it offered better bang for the buck than the Highlander. We did not look at the Acadia/Outlook/Enclave because my wife wanted to buy Japanese. The engine has plenty of power and the transmission is the smoothest I have ever driven. The cx9 handles like a car much smaller than it. The bose system has enough power as long as you don't plan to blast your music. The auto headlights work most of the time--sometimes you need to switch them on manually. They also come on in the garage, regardless of the time of day. The auto wipers work nicely. I use the backup camera more than I thought I would. It really does help! My daughter loves the rear DVD--keeps her quiet on long trips. The car is at its best at highway speeds. Very quiet and smooth. The 20 inch wheels are a little firm, but tolerable, over bumps. They really allow great handling, though. The seats are comfortable--esp with the seat heaters and leather. The one complaint i have is that I am getting 13-14 mpg around the city. Hopefully that will improve as the engine breaks in (i only have 1600 miles on it). The highway mpg is about right though--20 mpg. I fully recommend this car to anyone looking for 5 seats most of the time, and 7 seats occasionally...read morehide
