2008 Mazda MAZDA3 User Reviews
s Touring 5-Door shown
- $7,313 - $10,600
- cool interior, good looks, 17" wheels, aux in standard,
- weak stereo for sport model, suspension starting to get soft,
Overall this is a great buy. I have put 20,000 miles on it in 1 year and have been very pleased. I owned a mazdaspeed protege prior to this and do miss the handling but not the fuel consumption. It has great low end torque for around town and plenty passing power at 50 plus MPH. When people ride in it they are usually suprised that I paid $18k at the dealer for it. It has plenty of room for our 2 dogs plus gear/bikes on a long trip (one of them weighs 150 pounds). The fabric on the seats is also very easy to keep clean.
As mentioned in the cons, the suspension has started to settle. For most this is OK but I preffer a more firm ride. If looking for a true "sport" model the MAZDASPEED is the way to go....read morehide

- SPORTY LOOK, LOTS OF POSITIVE COMMENTS, ZIPPY, CUP HOLDER IN DOORS
- NO TRUNK RELEASE ON KEY FAUB
I replaced my 2005 Mazda3 S after it was totaled by a tornado. I was very sad, i loved that car. My 2008 is just as nice. I love the paint color, Crystal White Pearl Mica, big change from Black Mica, but dirt doesnt show as much. So far my 2005 was getting better gas mileage than my new one which i dont know if that is because its brand new or what but i mostly drive in city as i did before. It had the same size motor. Overall I have no major complaints, i love it. I researched it for over a year before i got my first one and i am glad i made the decision to buy it. I never had a single problem w/ my 2005 for the 2.5 years i had it. So far nothing w/ this one. Everyone that drives it loves how zippy it is. It is a compact car so dont expect a ton of room inside. Trunk is a lot bigger than you'd think. Im sad to see theyre changing the body style in 2010 though....read morehide

- Responsive--good acceleration, handling and braking. Comfortable driving position. Crisp automatic
- A little noisy (typical small car). Instrument lighting. 31MPG hwy not good for small car.
I bought my Mazda 3s and a Honda Civic LX at the same time. The Mazda 3 has much better handling, and acceleration (of course it has about more horsepower). It has a lot of pop and is very fun to drive.
The downside is mostly gas mileage (30-31 MPG highway). My old Bonneville (3.8l engine) got about the same mileage on the highway. Around town is not so bad at 26-28 MPG. The highway mileage is not good because it is geared rather low (good acceleration though).
Reliability has been good for the first 6 months. I've had good luck with my previous Mazdas (84 GLC, 84 626, 91 MPV)....read morehide

- Great fuel economy, looks great, feels great on the road
- This is not a luxury auto, not as much room as my Avalon
I bought this car new, after researching other vehicles and found that for the money this was my best buy! It has a lot of options on it, like the moonroof package which my Avalon had and I was glad to have that in this car as well. Highly recommend at least a test drive. Handles curves nicely! Great car!...read morehide

- Great gas mileage, fun to drive, sharp handling, great looks
- clutch has a soft feel, but it is an economy car
I bought this car brand new and it has been great. I was in the market for an economy car and my choices were the Honda Civic, Pontiac G5, and the Mazda 3i. I am happy that I chose the Mazda 3. It just had more to offer and had a high quality feel to it than the others. It handles great, has a good shift feel, and gets me 40 mpg on the highway. I haven't had any problems with it and I am planning on keeping this car for a long time....read morehide

- Not much right now
- Hit a racoon- $10,000 in damage. Plastic bumber, radiator and bracket Gas milage is not ipressive.
All makes of this year look so much alike I think they all go to the same designer. I drive 90% highway and barely manage 30MPG. Poor acceleration. But what concerns me now is what happens when I drive in the snow--am I going to lose my bumper and radiator every major snow? We were only going 65mph and hit a medium sized racoon that did almost $3000 in damage to the body and didn't give any indication that the engine was over heating. Now it's almost $6000 for an engine plus labor. If you travel any country highways think twice about this car....read morehide

- Comfortable, great on gas!! Sporty looks, fun to drive...
- ...some interior wind noise, little need for first gear...
I bought my 3 used with under 15,000 miles and it felt like a brand new one! I love to drive it, but I find first gear has NOWHERE to go except the parking lot. I always start in second unless there's a significant uphill ahead. Interior layout is very comfortable for driver, everything is within reach. I have the leather seats and there is broken stitch under my front passenger seat...came that way...helped lower the price...but it just hangs behind the seat from the bottom. It bugs me, but I rarely see it.
Otherwise, I've never had a vehicle with better fuel economy! I'm averaging 30 mpg! Even better than what the sticker says, of course manual trans could be responsible for that. I'd recommend it to anyone! It's a great car. Plenty of room, and not too much. I would like a remote trunk opener though......read morehide

- Fun to drive, great shifting auto trans, BMW features at half the price
- MPG's could be a little better, road noise
We have an 07 model for about a year and half. Car handles great, the 5 speed auto transmission is fun to shift in manual mode, lots of features you find on high end cars such as heated seats, traction control, leater seats, stability control, audio controls on the steering wheel, auto climate control, auto head lights and auto rain wipers. The features of the hatch area are great, with a simple flip of the hatch floor you have a plastic covered floor to keep the carpet from getting wet or muddy. MPG's could be better for around town driving but will get in the mid 30's if you stay about 65 MPH....read morehide

- Rain sensing wipers, auto on/off headlights, bose sound system is terrific
- Road noise on highway
The car is great. Everything is standard except sunroof and bose sound system. I have put 2,000 on it and love it.
