- Looks great and handles well.
- Poor gas mileage
Purchased As Used
I was having issues with my 2007 Mazda 6 which only had 56,000 miles on it. Mazda gave me a great deal on a 2010 Mazda 3 but said the gas mileage would be better to justify the higher pymt. WRONG!!!!! This car gets 25mpg tops downhill. I also only drive a mile to work so with all the navigation, bluetooth, and all the cool options I have to jump start it at least once a week. (new battery). I love my car but hate having to cross my fingers that it will start when I leave for work every morning. Mazda said I'm just not driving it enough to keep it charged. I guess I will just have to waist some more expensive gas to drive around town for nothing......read morehide

- Traumatic after sales support
Purchased As Not Purchased
Mazda is still consistent on customer neglect. They are using all alibis and finally turn down a customer who suffers from poor quality parts (e.g. Tail light housing burned due to stock light bulb).

- Solid feel, Steering/Handling, Ride, Power, Styling
- Small rear view mirror, radio if no BOSE package, bluetooth

Just traded in my 2007 Mazda3s Grand Touring 4 door for the 2011 Hatchback sport model. Wanted something a little different. Was looking at Mini Coopers, but just too small. Very happy i made the right choice with another trouble free Mazda product. 95% built in Japan. ZERO issues with last one...just reg oil changes with Mobil 1. The new car i have to say is almost night and day from the last, and i truley LOVED that car. It has such a solid feel to it and rides great. I know they come with different brand tires and ive tried several on past cars and that is what gives you the type of ride and feel for a car. These have sporty Yokohoma tires, which im sure would be terrible in the winter. However, i used Blizzaks on my last one and it was like AWD in the winter.. change to winter tires people!
As for QUALITY/RELIABILITY.. Import product with very good reviews. This is my 5th car in 8 yrs. Ive owned a VW GTI, HONDA CIVICS, SCION TC, and TOYOTA CELICA and the previous Mazda3. I would never go back to Honda based on style, drive feel, after owning Mazda products. Only for quality and resale are they great in. The VW was the worst btw, but fun to drive. Most trouble free car was the previous Mazda3.
So far, since going from a loaded car ( leather/Bose/Sunroof) to one with not as many extras, ive noticed that it would have been worth getting the upgrade to the radio for sound quality. The base radio isnt the best. Im thinking strongly on putting in better speakers. Also the bluetooth can be a slight pain. Other than those two issues im perfectly happy with it. Gas mileage is expected to not be the best in class, but not awful either.
Pros are the paint quality is excellent, always get comments on the MICA/PEARL coat finishes they use. Driving position/ feel is like driving a sports car, when i can be hauling four people and luggage to boot. Versatility with folding seats and hatchback. HANDLING is superb, and i do like the auto sport shift, going from a manual. VALUE..i got such a great car for the money. Nothing out there interested me currently except maybe the new 2012 Ford Focus, which isnt really out yet.
Will update more later.. NOW GO DRIVE ONE!...read morehide

- Gas Milege, good looks, great handling
- No AWD option
Purchased As New
I chose this over the Toyota Matrix because it had a nicer look and ride. I love sport mode transmission.... being able to shift without using a clutch pedal. Has lots of room in it.
I only wish the hatchbacks came with an awd option for the extra traction in winter. Looks like I will just have to get a good set of winter tires though....read morehide

It's kinda hard to take negative reviews seriously, especially when the reviewer sounds like they're 12 years old. If you're old enough to drive, you should have a grasp on basic grammar. Anyway, I've only had my 3 for a week but I absolutely love it! The 2.5 has plenty of power, and it comes at a pretty low RPM. It's isn't the speed3 by any means, but I think it's definitely competitive in the market it's designed for. The handling is fantastic! Being a Mustang owner, I cherish great handling as this is the one thing Mustangs lack. The interior is nice, not too much hard plastics. I traded in my 2010 Focus for this 2011 Mazda 3 and am very happy. This is twice the car the Focus is, and that's coming from a Ford guy. This 6 speed transmission is definitely the way to go. It's a lot of fun to drive. I didn't drive the slushbox, but I'd bet the manual makes the car. Fuel consumption is a bit higher compared to the Focus, tho it has a larger, more powerful engine. Averaging 25.6 mpg between city and Interstate, and that's running 80mph. 3 weeks ago I bought my wife a new Mazda6, and loved it so much I bought myself the 3...love it!...read morehide

- cant find any proin this car
- Lack of power, terrible quality, 10year old technology
Purchased As New
My Mazda 3 has too many probelms, lack of power, which the dealer said that needs to run at 5,000 rpms to have power, but by doing this your fuel tank will give you only 225 miles. I have cracking noises on the front window. Noises on the front suspension, paint is chiping out on the back door. Radio has terrible technology, it only shows radio frequency, no other message it is worst than 10 years old technology. Driver space is badly design, if you are not carefull you will hit your head against the sealing and the front window....read morehide

Bought the 2010 Mazda 3 hatchback to replace my 2000 Pontiac Montana van. I realize I'm comparing apples to oranges in going from a min van to a sporty car, but the Mazda has been a great disappointment. Was looking for serviceable car, not luxury, & that is what I got, but not happy with the Mazda. Not getting much better city gas mileage than in the van. Haven't taken car on long freeway trip yet so can't compare, but van got 30mpg/hwy. Since driving the car I have developed leg pain & been told by a physical therapist that the bucket seats are the cause. Absolutely hate the driver's seat. Head rest pushes my head forward at an uncomfortable angle. I am small, just over 5' and the seats feel very cramped. The ride is rougher than initially thought. Inconvenient placement of some instruments. Tire pressure warning system too sensitive. Alarm went off with only 1 1/2# loss due to outdoor temp change. Terrible radio/cd sound system. The more I drive the car, the more I dislike it. Actually, I'm beginning to hate it. I avoid driving it when at all possible. In six instances now, the most recent just last night, I came within a hair's breath of being rear-end while stopped at traffic lights. I'm assuming other driver's just don't see this little car. Desparately trying to figure a way to trade it in and not lose a ton of money. Car has less than 1900 miles on it. Unfortunately, dealers are in short supply of any makes or models that fit my needs & price range. From financial aspect, I am probably stuck with this car for longer than I would like, but will dump it at first opportunity....read morehide
