- Mileage is poor
Purchased As New
Its a good car. I like the handling as it feels ready to take any turn. Mine has the 170 hp motor. It should be fast right? I can't beat anybody with an automatic. The 6 spd manual is rediculous. Too many shifts in the city, no power range. Anybody with a normal auto can stay with me. The BOSE radio system is weak. No bass. Mileage is only in the 20's. EVERYBODY has better mileage than that, even my Dad's Corvette! The tires are bad in the snow. The car is jittery in heavy rain. I don't like the automatic climate control. It always changes the settings on me. Otherwise, this car is always fun to drive as advertised, I just think it could be better. A new Elantra looks pretty, but it is really boring to drive and feels very slow. I'm 6"3", I should have gotten another Mazda 6 instead, same performance numbers for about same price....read morehide

- Sporty, good handling, nice interior
- iffy paint/body quality, Stock tires not great, only "decent" MPG.

Bought 2008 5 dr. Fun to drive, very "zippy", excellent handling that gets me into trouble:-). Hatchback version has great cargo room for a small car. Interior styling is far superior to other cars in same class. However, car was pummeled by hail that other cars weren't even slightly damaged by, and now there are small "rust" spots where paint has bubbled up. The goodyear "all season" RSA Eagle tires are summer tires only, you'll need winter tires if you live in a snowy environment. Now I have issues with the car sensing when I put the transmission in park, creating problems when starting it later on. I average 30-32 MPG hwy driving (65-75 mph avg. speed) and 24-26 mpg when commuting a mix of city and highway to work....read morehide
