- Excellent Gas Mileage, Blue Tooth, Audio System, Style
- Cons
- Slightly uncomfortable for long trips

Brought this car new in Aug and love it. Have taken five 6 hr trips with it straight off the showroom floor and have been averaging 38 mpg. Figure about 34 around town but definitely an upgrade from an 18 mpg Honda Van. Handling is great, fun to drive and passes semi's on the open road like nothing. Could not be happier. Looked at Honda and Toyota but this is the best bang for the buck. Under $18.5 out the door...read morehide

- Pros
- Fuel economy
- Cons
- Acceleration while going downhill
Purchased As New
Come on folks, we live in New England. It accelerates while we brake going DOWNHILL. Imagine the fun we'll have when the hills are nothing but ice? Dealership is pretending that all the cars are like this and won't do anything about it. If that's the case, a lawsuit is soon in the makings when some unfortunate idiot kills himself braking down a hill in the winter.
Don't drive this car, even if someone gives it to you....read morehide0 out of 10 people found this review helpful.

- Pros
- Great fuel economy, dependable, sporty ride
- Cons
- Could use better tires
Purchased As New
My wife and I leased a 2010 Mazda3 i-sport and thoroughly enjoyed it. Rather than buying out the lease on the stripped-down 2010, we purchased a 2012 Mazda3 i-touring model (manual transmission) with Skyactiv engine.
The Skyactiv engine, found only on the 2012 i-touring and i-grand touring models, gets much better fuel economy than the i-sport and S models. For those review that say they are getting 28-30 MPG, they have the old-style engine or the 2.5 liter found on the S models. We have averaged 37 MPG in mixed driving...fantastic!
The only complaint I would have is that Mazda continues to put Bridgestone Turanza EL400 tires on the Mazda3. They are an "all season tire", but they do not handle very well in the snow. Living in Cleveland, snow/slush is present 5 months out of the year. I plan to upgrade to a different tire like the Hankook H727, General Altimax, or the Kumho Solus KR21.
The car handles very well, is dependable, and the styling is fantastic! Plus, it gets great gas mileage and is inexpensive. The cabin is tight with all of the control right at your fingertips.
When we bought the 2012 Mazda3 last month, the dealerships were hungry to sell; you should be able to negotiate a great deal on a 2012 model as they try to move them off the lots. Go for it...its a great car!...read morehide0 out of 0 people found this review helpful.

- Pros
- decent fuel economy, attractive looks
- Cons
- several troublesome problems
Purchased As New
Did my research and expected a trouble free car, but it didn't turn out that way. Have had electrical problems virtually from the day I purchased. Horn needed to be replaced which took 2 months as Mazda "needed to have horn not working while in the repair shop." Horn worked sporadically and had to take it back 3 times before they were able to figure that a new horn was required. Very dangerous situation. A problem that seemed to be connected was the beeper alert that notified when car was locked or unlocked which failed after less than 2 months from purchasing but resumed working once horn was replaced. Approximately 3 months later, the car would not start. Totally dead. After waiting 3 hours for a tow it finally started. Mazda has told me to notify them as soon as it doesn't start(and not attempt to start it) so they can can diagnose problem. So far it has failed to start 4 times (I have owned car since 5/11). Since it was very impractical to call them as was on vacation twice and far from home the other 2 times , I have not done as they've requested. The car started each time on the second or 3rd try. Common sense indicates that there will be high electrical repair costs down the road, hopefully before the warranty expires. I won't even talk about the windows, particularly on the driver side as they all have a sticking and popping sound which Mazda claims was because car was "dirty". Total nonsense. Extremely disappointing purchase....read morehide
