Purchased As New
Have had the car for a week...don't get nervous. I bought it in Florida and drove it to New York the next day through some unbelievably bad weather and a thousand idiot drivers on the road with me. It performed flawlessly. Not a squeak or rattle and nimble as a Romanian gymnast. There's good power, but you have to goose it to get it. The Skyactive thing...well, the jury's still out on that, but right off the lot I was getting 38 mpg on the road. Got a good deal...not a great one, but a good one - 0% for 60 months (I love using other people's money). This machine comes after a long stint with a Jeep Liberty so actually I could compare a Schwinn and it would be excellent.
Here's the thing, this vehicle is made in Japan. If you don't think there's a difference, read the reviews of the Mazda6 which is made here. The Japanese make a better car, that's just a fact, and I'm more conservative than John Birch. The truth is the truth, it's a well built car. Mazda however is building a plant to make these in Mexico, so if you're contemplating a purchase, I would do it now.
The tranny is a little odd, not bad, but a little odd with the 6 speeds. It makes a bold attempt at saving you money by adding that extra high gear, but at the cost of real smoothness. I can live with that though since there's a 5 - 60,000 warranty on the powertrain and I bought the extended bumper to bumper just to be sure.
Bottom line, I love this car.
