Having owned it for almost a year I have to say that my imppression has not changed much from when we first bought it and we've traveled quite a bit in it including from Washington D.C. trip to Chicago, several to Dearborn, several to New York City, trip to Miami, trip to Orlando and trip to Ft. Lauderdale and the experience has been very rewarding as far as comfort, reliablity, gas mileage and safety. We're a family of 4 and our Boxer and usually travel together which some times is a problem because Mazda does not offer an integrated roof rack which could be used for a luggage carrier like those from thule and our Boxer ends up crammed back there but worse is when all seats are being used by passengers which leaves absolutely no trunk space available at all (similar to that of our former car a Mini Cooper) so traveling with more than 4 people in the car is rather troublesome. Performance: The car rides well and behaves in the same way in either highway or city but tends to be sluggish from the line or quick accelerations to pass another car or change lines quickly which can be frustating because the automatic transmission refuses to shift down I'm assumming because it is not performance oriented but economy using the Manumatic feature does help a bit though. Once at speed it easily keeps up with traffic which in Michigan was in the mid to high 70's. I would also wish for better paint, this one gets scratched pretty easily specially around the bumpers. The seats although comfortable for the front should move backwards just a tad more plus can someone help me with our Boxer's hairs after a long trip, the back of the seats as well as the carpet almost seems out of a scary movie that eats them and it is hard to get them out, regardless of the kind of vacuum used. Overrall, this car is fantastic and we couldn't be more happy to own one and yes we miss our mini but we did not fit anymore with the addition of the Boxer a year ago but quite frankly this is almost like the mini version of family vehicles.
