I can't say enough good things about my Mazda5. I did not want a full-size mini van and when I saw the Mazda5, I loved its size and "quirkiness." I purchased mine new in early 2007 and have driven it for nearly 31 months. I usually get tired of vehicles after about two years, but I still LOVE my Mazda5. My brother even bought one after he saw mine and he loves his too.
I was aware when I purchased the vehicle that the third-row seating is not roomy enough for adults and with the third-row seating up, you need a roof rack with a cargo box/bag to hold anything for a trip. But I wouldn't say that this is a "con" since the Mazda5 is not meant to be a full-size mini-van. The Mazda5 has plenty of room for my family of four and cargo in the back with third-row seating down. My kids love all of the hidden storage spaces (under the back seats) and in between the back seats.
The only other things I would change in the design if possible is to make the body ground clearance higher and to add power rear doors.
