Purchased As New
So far, I am really happy with the purchase with my 2009 MSPD3 GT package. The car is really fast when needed, but returns excellent fuel economy when it is driven gently. I am averaging 35.7 MPG overall from the trip computer and I have not reset that since leaving the dealership lot two months ago. I am getting about 390 miles from every 11 gallons of premium fuel. Ride is not rough at all, as I thought it could be tuned a bit tighter. The exhaust noise is a bit louder than usual, but it is not annoying.
The quality of the material is excellent for a car of this price range. Also the fit and finish is top notch with classy design details. The seats are really supportive for high G cornering on those freeway offramps with reducing turn radius. The HID headlamp with level adjustment is also a big plus. I have no problems with the shifter, even though some magazine said it was vague in feel.
The hatchback design makes this car very useful as well. I originally had decided on a Honda Civic Si 4-door. But the trunk space was limited and it had a larger wing on the trunk lid than I care for. And the large V-TECH sticker on the rear door was unsightly. The Mazda design keeps a clean low profile while flowing through traffic without attracting attention.
For the price, there is no better deal out there with that much performance, economy, utility and reliability.
