2002 Mazda MX-5 Miata User Reviews

- incredible turning and braking power. It's a true driver's car.
- lack of storage space for....... well, anything. But it's a sports car, not a mini-van, DUH.
Purchased As Used
I bought my 2002 Base / 5 speed miata in 2009, used, with 16,700 miles on the odometer. I absolutely love it. No mechanical failures, break downs, or surprises in the past year of owning it. my best highway mileage has been 32/33 mpg. I've owned many different cars in my life, and I've enjoyed none as much as this little roadster. Horsepower is adequate and balances the car's handling nicely. Not a drag race car, but it wasn't intended to be in the first place. The way the controls / pedals / shifter are laid out is just perfect. There is no evidence of cowl shake or flexing in the chassis - it is incredibly stiff for a convertible, or even a coupe, for that matter. If you drive one of these cars, you'll know instantly if it's for you or not. If you're looking for a soft ride that insulates you from the road, 12 cup holders, a dvd player, and other such comforts, look for something else. Perhaps a nice minivan?
But if you love to drive through curvy roads in a roadster that communicates every single nuance of the experience back to the driver, this car is an absolute bargain.
