- Wicked fun on winding country roads and metropolitan streets.
- Poor MPG given the HP produced. Lackluster get-up-and-go.
Purchased As New
I purchased my RX-8 new 5 years ago. This is the only car I have ever owned that after 5 years of ownership I still love it as much as I did the day I bought it. The car is amazingly fun to drive, especially on winding roads and metropolitan streets. This car is very forgiving at it limits; such as when driving 60+ on a 25mph cloverleaf, loss of traction is gradual rather than sudden and it's well communicated through the steering. The interior is well designed and looks nice. After 5 years of ownership the only signs of wear are on the gear shift knob and the back of the seats (the silver colored molding scratches and scuffs easily). The rest has maintained its luster and nothing has deformed from spending summers outdoors under the sun.
The only area where I feel quality is lacking is the exterior paint. It chips and scratches extremely easily and the coat is super thin. Also the windshield seems to have pitted very easily as well.
Overall though, the car has been very reliable with no mechanical or electrical problems at all in the 5 years I've owned it.
