Purchased As Used
I bought a 1997 280 C last weekend, time will tell on the reliability. Everything else is great, it had one owner for 11 years and the car was obviously garage kept and well maintained. Not one ding or fade in the paint or the interior seats and dash. It was purchased in New Jersey and then traded in, the second owner had it for 8 months and it was repoed and sold at auction where I took onwership. It has 94,000 miles and the transmission was rebuilt at 88,000 by the dealership. I have had people asking me if it was a 2005 or 2006 because of how well it still looks inside and out. The power antenna does not work, I have heard that they go bad on this model which may be why in 1998 they started putting it in the back glass. As with any vehicle, always check the maintainance records and make sure they were kept up with and the scheduled service was done to the car, then keep on servicing the car when due and any car should last. My Truck I bought used had 110,000 with a good service record and it now has almost 400,000 miles. I hope this car gets well past that in milage with as little problems. I would recommend this car if you can get a nice one that was well maintained and serviced.
