Needed a larger car to haul dogs and people. I'm a "car guy" and can't stand SUVs. We looked at all the wagons: 525i, Volvo V70, Saab 9-3. Really wanted the BMW, but it lacked in space.
Only 1 mechanical failure in 2 years: a dead Crank Position Sensor, a $120 part that I replaced in 10 minutes.
I just got 27 MPG on the freeway, fully loaded, rear seat down with my wife and 11(!) 17" to 18" tires (four with wheels) aboard. Have seen 29 MPG indicated....read morehide
