2004 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

- Has outstanding performance with a smooth, quiet ride. The all-wheel drive is fantastic in winter.
- Expensive service. Overpriced parts. Not for someone wanting great gas mileage.
Purchased As New
I originally bought a 2003 E-class, but soon after decided that I wanted a few more options, especially all-wheel-drive. The 4-Matic was unavailable in the US at the time (2003), but about 6 months later I ordered a new 2004 with the features I wanted.
It is now February 2013, nearly nine years after delivery, and the car is still like new. The few issues I had were fixed while under warranty, and the only problem since then is the passenger seat sensor. A minor nuisance but I will get it fixed eventually. The navigation could use updating, but still works and I use it frequently. I did not expect to keep the car this long, but I have yet to find a reason to replace it. Although I only get around 16-17 mpg in town, highway mpg is around 24-25, not too bad.
