- Looks, Big Block level of power, No Noise, Handling, Smoooth Trasmission
- Dealers do not cary any loaded or Level 2 cars
Not to offend any one but last year my wife and I took the E 320CDI out for a test drive. I hated the car. It road and handled poor, the brakes were OK at best and it was noisy and rockets the whole car when the motor was shut off. The engine and transmission did not seem to be talking and were very ruff.
This year we were looking at the GL and ML 320 SUV and were impressed with the engine and trans combination so we gave the 2007 E-Class a try. WOW, Mercedes seemed to have read my complaint list from last year and addressed everything. The car handles so well now you can pick any line you want in a turn unlike the over steer of last years car. The conventional brakes feel and work great. Very few cars can accelerate while rolling though traffic like this wonderful paring of almost 400 ft-lbs of Torque and the buttery 7 speed trans. I drive more aggressive than my wife and the adaptive function corrects for this in 5-10 miles so both of us love the car. We have not had a chance yet for much highway mileage but the 26mpg city we are currently getting seems to point to great expectations. We changed the tires and wheels from the stock 16 to 18s with 245/40 series tires. We see no change in mileage and very little change in ride while handling in wet is much better. Also I think the minor tweaks in the styling make the car more aggressive (sporty) looking. I love ours in white and chrome wheels.
My only complaint is with dealers. No one had one that was loaded in the country or at least with a level 2 option package. We came here from a Lexus and they have a very large offering across all of the options. We really wanted the Xeon Headlights and the Keyless systems so this almost drove us off....read morehide

- Great looks and luxury interior
- Too Many Malfunctions!
I have had this car for 6 months and maximized my calls to AAA due to the faulty battery. I love the looks of this car and feels great to drive it however the hassle is just not worth it to me. I will be looking to replace this car with a reliable japanese car real soon.

- Very good fuel economy but at a premium given the cost of diesel, perfect assembly and a great ride
- the arm rest is annoyingly low with an awkward placement of the sliding door at the elbow
I like the diesel power and economy. The torque is amazing and the acceleration has the feel/performance of an eight cylinder. This is mechanically a great car that is based on technology that leads the industry. This is not your daddy's diesel - I do hope it takes off in popularity so more versions and options are available....read morehide

- Great fuel economy with over 700 miles per tank
- Does everything well but wash it self
Huge amount of torque and very comfortable ride. My previous car was a 2002 BMW M3/// with 333HP. I do even miss the small 3 series. The E class is solid, quick and with the diesel Bluetec highway miles up to 40 mpg. My lowest was 30mpg with driving in NYC traffic for 3 hours. Now waiting for the wagon diesel for my wife....read morehide

- Super quiet ride, great fuel economy, improved HVAC controls, higher profile tires.
- rear seat fold down release inconvenient. Miss the free maintenance program.
Have not broken in engine yet and still getting over 30 mpg on diesel fuel. Car is quieter the 2002 E320. Car has a quieter and smoother ride on the 16 inch wheels and higher profile tires.
