- Beautiful looking, quality materials
- Electronic and mechanical gremlins as usual for German cars
The E550 for '07 is a thing if beauty, but one can learn to hate it as well. The thick leather and wood inside smell and feel good and the red dash lights are soothing at night, but the trips to the dealer for repairs are unbearable. The all new 7 speed transmission can't handle the power of the new V8 and the torque converter has been malfunctioning for many E550 owners, mine included. The drivetrain shudders under accelaration at low rpms. Additionally, the automatic levelling suspension goes up and down at random times while driving and when the car is turned off. After 3 Benzes, 8 BMWs and 4 Lexuses, I will not get German cars again, I've had pain in the neck problems with every single one. Lexus dealers, here I come again!...read morehide

- Solid performance; handles more nimbly than I expected
My first "foreign car" - always been Detroit loyal. However, for the price and relevant value, this auto met my demands. Runs great, engineering is great - I couldn't be more satisfied.

- Beautiful and Fast
- Problem Ridden, Lemon, VERY poor manufacturer assistance
My E500 was a lemon and the two replacement car Mercedes sent me had big problems. Stay away! Mercedes is now trying to sell cars to those who really can't afford them.

- great all purpose car
- controls can be confusing
This car [E550] replaced my 2000 E430. Where as the previous car drove like a golf cart [drive by wire], the E550 is pure sports car. The increased hp is alarming and the comfort is great. It is hard to compare the two due to complete different handling. The options [navigation, teleaid] make driving in unknown territories very easy and confident. Never feel like the car will let me down or feel stranded. The E350 is sufficient, but the extras on the 550 are worth the extra price. Have never been sorry I purchased the car and constantly complemented almost a year later. On a long distance journey in calm conditions the computer calculated much higher gas mileage [29 mpg] than stated on sticker. Only negative is the inconsistency in dealer service levels. I have two dealerships close and one is excellent and the other is a challenge. This car will be a frustration of you live in an area with a poor service provider....read morehide

- Fast, very fast with all the comforts
- Fairly expensive with only average gas mileage
I travel alot in my car and i bought the E 550 4Matic about a month ago. i live in a snow belt and it handles like a dream, in fact better than my last SUV. On clear roads, it just rocks. Performance is superb. To get this performance you would have to go to the M BMW or the S6 Audi and spend alot more. With the 4Matic, it was a no brainer. City driving a bit tough on gas, but on the highway I get about 24 to 26 mpg. Not bad! Over all, worth the bucks....read morehide

- Very simple
- Very much like the E350
Drove around in this car just latley and man was it insane. More or less car took off with no problem, the thing that struck me was the video game feel of it. I never knew that when a car is floored vision is blurred and i was not able to experience that until this car came along

- The only thing that's good about it is to be seen in one!
- It feels like a luxury truck. Loud engine and transmission.
Everyone out there is saying MB is just a more expensive Chrysler. I am getting a BMW or Audi when my lease is up this year. It is still a good status symbol. But if MB division dosent seperate themsevles from Chrysler( and stop sharing componets), they will be a piece of the history. they have been getting low scores on all the JD power surveys and now with the Chrsyler, it is erasing the MB image slowly ( at least in this country). I was at a MB dealer this morning and heard somone said "it is just an expensive Chrysler", enough said....read morehide

- Great handling and power. Beautiful car
- None so far
Got this car a week ago. It handles great. Acceleration is scary. Extremely powerful. Why spend extra for an AMG.

- awesome pickup, suspension, radio
- low visibility out the rear when changing lanes.
this car is awesome, got it for my wife a month ago and she has driven it twice. i have a porsche turbo and would almost trade the comfort of the mercedes to the speed of the porsche. the car can move though. when you punch it, you can feel all that engine moving you forward, we have had three bmws in the past and i will say that driving the bmw was more sporty, but the benz has all the power but a hint of cruising in there too, at high speeds i mean. i have the black with the mocca interior, like the stereo all though it could be a little louder with some more base, had an A6 turbo and the base in that car was amazing. the on board help thing isnt too helpful though i find myself waiting a long time to speak with a person. everyone who gets into this car as your passenger will be blown away. the decor is as good as it gets.
