2007 Mercedes-Benz GL-Class

- This vehicle has great handling. Feels more like you're driving a sedan than an SUV.
- I agree with the other reviewer that the mirrors are too small-but no big deal
I thoroughly enjoy this vehicle. Very luxurious, yet sporty and a real pleasure to drive. This vehicle is packed full of features and conveniences. It seems pricey, but when you compare it to it's competitors like Lexus and BMW it isn't unreasonably priced.

- This car is a DREAM! It drives and rides like no other SUV
- None whatsoever!!!!
We really enjoy the extra room it provides, seating seven passengers very comfortably!!! My family enjoys having climate controls in each seating area of the suv!

- MOTOR TREND'S SUV OF THE YEAR!
- IF THERE IS, THEN IT WOULDN'T BE CAR OF THE YEAR!
IT IS THE BEST IN THE SUV CLASS AND HAS ALL WHAT YOU WANT! MERCEDES BENZ WAS ABLE TO HIT THE RIGHT AMOUNT OF STYLE, LUXURY, PRICE AND VALUE TO GET THE HIGH ACCOLADES FOR ITS SEGMENT!

- 28 mpg highway, 23 mpg city,
I have approximately 4400 miles on the vehicle. I'm very pleased with it so far. I couldn't think of any cons yet. Maybe it could accelerate faster. Mercedes is supposedly coming out with a V8 diesel for the GL. It will be the GL-420.

- Overall design/usability, abundant torque, whisper quiet, small feel in big package
- Controls(climate/radio/sat nav) could be easier to master
Our family(2 kids) has had this vehicle for two weeks and it is spectacular. My wife is the primary driver and she loves it.
We drove everything under the sun(all 2007 model year vehicles) before choosing the Mercedes, including:
GMC Yukon Denali
Land Rover LR2 and Range Rover
I've gotta think that some Americans(Chrysler influence?) were involved in the design parameters because the Germans finally nailed what an SUV should be. This chameleon is amazingly user friendly and provides everything you could want in a large SUV but somehow feels diminutive from behind the wheel.
The perceived quality on the interior is as good as anything I've seen, including BMW, Audi, Lexus, etc. Just as I was initially awed by the interior design and materials, everyone that has been seated in our luxurious off-roader has been blown away. It is a spectacularly executed interior with stitched leather everywhere, gorgeous wood accents, and a harmonious design that really works. Cupholders (8 of them)are simple and sturdy(unlike previous Mercedes contraptions), all seats including the third row seats are very comfortable for my 6'0 frame, and the feel of everything you touch is that of top quality. All seats fold flat and features like auto tailgate and power fold-down raer seats are handy. The technology on this vehicle is never-ending so be prepared to spend some serious time with the owners manual. I'm only part way through the myriad features after several hours reading about them and actually using them so I don't forget. It's like flight school for a vehicle.
The drive is very good. The isolation from road and wind noise is one of the biggest things you notice immediately. This thing is WHISPER quiet unless accelerating-when only the subdued diesel hum enters the cabin. Outward visibility is excellent(even for the 2 and 4 year olds in the back). The handling is good if not overly sporty. Once settled into a turn grip is excellent for a vehicle of this size. It's not our BMW 5 series with the sport package, but it is an excellent compromise between comfort and sport. Power is more than adequate from the diesel. Steering is very predictable and satisfying.
I could go on and on but as you can tell I am incredibly impressed with this vehicle. Try one, you'll like it!
Regarding the previous review, The 3-zone climate control option adds a blower and 6 extra vents for 2nd and 3rd row passengers. I agree that this option should be standard....read morehide

- Better than SUV Hybrids
I Bought a GL 320 CDI two weeks ago. It is all that I hoped for and then some. The comfort is amazing. It is very quiet. It is hard to know that it is a diesel.

- Muscle, power, luxury, feels like driving a car. Love the power 3rd row seats.
- Side mirrors too small, outlets should keep working when engine is off, need more rear A/C vents.
The overall value of this car is not a good as we thought when we bought. This car is dripping in luxury, but is missing some basic features that our previous SUV (Chevy Tahoe) had, like rear A/C vents for 2nd and 3rd row passengers, and power outlets that work all the time. For a 50% increase in price, one would think all these basics would be covered. Having said that, we are enjoying the car none the less....read morehide
