I was so excited to order the 2013 GL550 I may have went overboard with the options. I have had two prior GL550's, Escalade and Range Rover (Fiull Size). At this point its equipped much like a top of the line CL at MSRP was $98K.

Designo leather is beautiful, as is the new dash, diamond paint,upgraded cameras and parking assist. It's a beautiful automobile, sure to turn heads!

Ride is still very harsh, with a GVWR of 6400# this is a big truck. Gas mileage is tough, especially as a primary car (although if you can afford a $98K car you shouldn't complain about gas costs in public, and what do you expect for 0 to 60 in 5.5 seconds). There is a definate lack of interior storage.

Unfortunatley MB is selling GL450 to Hertz, which takes away much of the exclusivity of the brand, and the GL line....read morehide

As a previous GL450 owner, I could not resist test driving the second gen GL.

I think I shouldn't have done that because taking a GL550 with every option out for a spin is more addictive than a first hit of heroin.

The cradling of comfort and luxury, the power and the whole over package of the car makes it a pretty much irresistible.

Winning Motor Trends SUV of the year didn't sway my opinion on getting it as I am a Mercedes fanboi (this one makes it my 6th one).

Aside from all my bias, drive one for yourself and see what you think.

Oh. If you do get it. Hint and half: get the extended warranty. The $5000 price tag saved me almost $20k out of warranty repairs....read morehide

as a diessel engine, its the best suv. on the pricy side. front seats are comfortable as long as you 5'10" or taller.
