- NAME PLATE= MERCEDES BENZ
- 50 GRAND AND YOU ONLY GET A V6!
PLENTY OF TORQUE BUT 50K FOR ONLY A V6 ENGINE IS A BIT CHEAP. THE ENGINE IS NOT THAT SMOOTH COMPARED TO A V8. BUT IF CAN GET PAST THAT, THIS IS A GREAT CAR, ITS GOT STYLING REFINEMENT BORROWED FROM THE LEXUS RX330. NO MORE MISSTAKING IT FOR A MINIVAN. ITS GOT THAT SUPERSIZED 3 POINTED STAR ON THE GRILL SCREAMING, " I GOT CLASS!" THE HANDLING IS JUST SUPERB. I CAN TAKE CORNERS WITH CONFIDENCE AT ANY SPEED. I YOU GET THE 4WD LIKE I DID, YOU CAN TAKE CORNERS AT TOP SPEED IN ANY CONDITION, I MEAN EVEN RAIN OR SNOW. THE WARRANTY IS GOOD ENOUGH FOR A LEASED VEHICLE SO NO NEED TO WORRY ABOUT RELIABILITY. YOUR LEASE WILL EXPIRE WELL BEFORE THE WARRANTY....read morehide

- PRICE, BUT AS THEY SAY, IF YOU HAVE TO ASK, YOU CAN'T AFFORD IT
Well it is after all the genuine 3 pointed star Mercedes-Benz, I don't know why this other reviewer calls it DiamlerChrysler. Big engine, Handling & Prestige, did I mention, big engine. Forget about the 3.5 liter(350), get the 5 liter. With the 5 liter engine you get the largest engine in the entry level luxury SUV. The handling is so good you can take corners at full throttle. My M-500 out accelerates everything on the road. Except perhaps the Mercedes AMG E 500 sedan. The handling on this SUV is so good that the high center of gravity is a none issue. No need to use brake at corners. I can take corners at full throttle. On highways, lane changes can be made with lighting speed. Just flick the handle with your wrist and your done. Of course, with 4wd all of above can be done in wet or snow conditions with equal aplomb. The poise which this vehicle exhibits at high speeds in corners under any condition is simlply amazing....read morehide

- Looks just like the Lexus RX330.
- Out dated engine technology. No hybird option. Whimpy unibody structure.
Given the price, and perceived, prestiege, via advertisement, I would have expected better engineering, ie. higher technology. Don't have variable timing cams like the Lexus or Honda. Given the price I would have expected a more rugged, body on frame construction like the Lexus GX or LX, but I guess this is poseur. Great for that milk run on a snowy day I suppose. But for sure, this is not for serious off roading. DiamlerChrysler has serious quality issues. When Mercedes-Benz and Chrysler merged, I thought this has to be the perfect mariage. And it was, they compliment each other perfectly. The marketing machine is absolutely amazing, to be able to push low quality cars and pass it on as a luxury vehicle is pure marketing aimed for the mass suckers....read morehide

- MERCEDES BABY NEED I SAY MORE? THE NAME MAKES UP FOR EVERYTHING!
- OLD TECH/CHEAP ENGINE/BUILD QUALITY/GAS GUZZLER/LOW POWER
I just LUV my m-CLASS. It is such a fab ride. My friends are so impressed when I tell then I got a DiamlerChryler M-CLASS. I mean CLASS as in CLASSY, Get it? The DiamlerChryler motto "too much quality can make u loose money" just sux, though. It really shows. I hear stories about transmission problems, engine problems. etc... Buy mine is just fine. I hope it doesn't break down when is the car loan is not even up in 4 years. The warranty is just right not too long(keeps cost down) and not too short(hopefully I won't have to experience those horror strories). If my Classy M breaks down on my way to that classy dinner, I'm gonna be pissed, mean upset, sorry did not mean to offend anyone. All said, you cannot beat German engineering. Nuf said. Oh, and I really like those TV comercials. I saw a few and that was it, I had to out and get one. Wait, am I ultimately paying for those CLASSY comercials? Hum but I like that CLASSY image projected by those expensive ads? I'm getting confused, am I a sucker? 50 grand for copied looks and an old engine? No can't be. No No No. It is a DiamlerChryler and I luv it. Period. End fo story. I don't wanna discuss this anymore....read morehide

- Looks great, great ride, mega power, 7 speed trans in phenom
- odd shifter, mileage, extra options get real pricey
Finally! Mercedes got rid of that old ML box. This is more like a good looking X5. Handles like a smooth sports car but enjoys safety offroad. I've put 300 miles on it in 3 days with no real complaints. Gas mileage is about 15-17 MPG in this brawny V8. This has an odd main gear shifter but really cool dual finger shifters on the steering wheel. I've never driven a 7 speed transmission car/suv/truck before. In fact I've never even heard of such a trans, it is phenomenol whether shifting yourself or letting it do it for you. Amazingly, except for the engine and transmission MADE IN THE USA!!! Looks like those kids in Alabama may have outdone themselves....read morehide
