- Overall a very good SUV
- 17,000 miles = 3 transmssions
This is my 2nd ML. Previously I had a 2001 ML320, a little underpowered. When I got the LM500 there was a signigicant notice in performance. Form the 1st day I was presented with minor problems. 1. the rear deck would not completely close and lock. 2. the trnsmission up-shifted very had and down-shifted very hard, at 7,000 mile a new transmission cured the problem.
After another 10,000 miles the transmission stardted to act badly again, same problems. Trnsmission number 3 is currenlty being installed. MBZ and the
Dealer has better be well versed in the "Lemon Law"....read morehide

I have read all 96 previews and wow ... I am more confused than ever. I already own two MB cars 2005 E200 Kombressor and an oldy 1984 200 which I love more than the new one. Here we pay 120% custom duties that means the ML 500 will cost US$ 140 K. With such previews about trans. problems I think I am going to wait until this car matures ... sorry MB you made your customers disappointed....read morehide

- comfort performance is tops, the hardist working engine i test drove beats the bmw, volvo, porsche
- i cant really complain
This is the best suv for the money. The gas prices are pretty good but its worth putting it in the tank and stepping on the gas! its quick! the suspension is amazing, its hard to belive you are driving an suv it feels like my S55 when i drive it. I highly recomend this vehicle.

- Most comfortable SUV I test drove. Suspension is superior to most.
I know the Mercedes is classified as a "rich" car, but in this day and age of insane car prices, the ML is not at all out of line. I happen to have the best service around and wouldn't trade this car for anything. Be sure to get the ML500 - the price is not that much more for what you receive. Great handling and a lot of room in the rear considering it is a 5 passenger car/truck....read morehide

- This is a Mercedes at least
- US made
Over all quality is sooo cheap, design, material, accuracy, factry. This is for American idiot who doesn't know the real high quality. German look down American consumer and made this trash intentinally. As proof of this, you can't find not so many ML class in Germany or Japan actually.

- gas miles per gallon may last if it wasn't a problem SUV
- It rides nice when it's not in the shop
My nightmare started 6-05 it was a Friday when my husband purchased me the ML500-06, .The SUV was on the show room floor with 14miles by that, Monday it had 32miles and on a tow truck with Transmission problems so, it was towed back to L.A. Downtown Motors
where it was purchased.I asked for another SUV they refused, they stated its under warranty. So after that it was down hill the car has been in the shop about 7or 8x's and it hasn't been a year for varies issues including the trans serveral times after the first time .It's in the shop now its been there since May5-06 I just got a call today 5-10-06 stating the SUV will not be ready until next week between the 18 or 19th .There waiting for parts to come from Germany,First they stated it was comming from Texas that was 3 days ago. I'am very disappointed with the service. Which my first choice was the Cheyanne S...read morehide

- MUCH IMPROVED! Great ride, quiet sun-roof, all the bells and whistles you'll ever need.
- At 12,000 miles, no cons. A little pricey, but worth it.
I owned a 2001 ML 320 and grew to hate it. The ride was terrible, bouncy and uncomfortable and what a noisy sunroof. I test drove all the '06 SUV's on the market and reluctantly decided to test drive the new ML. I am so glad I did. It is night and day over the old models. The ride is so much better and the overall improvement is major. I bought it without any hesitation. I highly recommend this new version, especially the V-8. My wife even loves it and she hated the old '01. Get the Serius Satellite, you'll love it!...read morehide

- Good looking
- Engine trouble, Trans jerky
A month ago, i did write some of my thought about my ML500's 06. Now as usual, I have had my car back to Autobaun's garage again for the same reason (Engine knocking) and i guess the result of engine rebuilt as last month is not an exception. It is the third visit for this problem, and i am frustrating. What should i do? Not just that, the trans jerks when it ships from first gear to 2nd, and from 2nd to first gear is also not yet resolved. It is the second times i brought in for this problem. This car is giving me so much headache, all i want is to ask the dealer to replace it with the hope that this problem won't haunt me....read morehide

- Out of sync transmission. Whinning engine noise. Cheap plastic interior. Interior noise in the trunk
At 700 miles the car stalled in the middle of the road transmission problem. Mercedes replaced three different transmission control housings, but they are still not able to correct the jerking at low speed. Noticeable clunk in the transmission when I slow down and step on the gas again. Engine fan went out at 1200 miles. Mercedes (Chrysler) is not willing to admit this a major flaw in their 7 speeds trans. Bottom line DO NOT BUY THIS CAR....read morehide

- I don't know other ML, but my 500ML has many problems. I mean bad.
Just after 1700 Miles, my ML500 stalled on the middle of Highway. The dealer couldn't find any proplem after, and their answer was "there was no error code shown on the system". My Harmon Kaden Amp needed to be replaced a week before. Since that time, My ML 500 keeps showing up at AutoBahn's Garage in monthly basic, Of course, as usual, the problem is "there was no error code shown on the system". Two week ago, I brought my ML back to AutoBahn's Garage after couple of times complaining about the engine's knocking problem. This time, the 8000 miles engine needed to be rebuilt. Whatelse do you want to know? My ML is still in the AutoBahn's Garage. There are two more major problems that they are still not able to find: 1. the drive train is knocking when downship or upship at non complete stop ( answer is work as designed). 2. water shown on the windshield (inside the car ) after rainning trip. I don't know how is your ML, but i have had enough of problem. I talked to Director of Service department MR. Marchel Ducan in the way i would like to replace it and what he told me " NO ". I mean i paid 55k for a Mercedes Benz, and what i got is nothing but a lemon....read morehide
