I love my S600. I drive 50 highway miles a day, and the open stretches on my commute are one of the most enjoyable things in my day. This car is seriously fun to drive. The V12 biturbo engine is a reincarnated wild animal. Incredibly comfortable and luxurious too, of course, it's everything you'd expect of a flagship Merc.
After my warranty expired reserving for repairs and upkeep has run maybe $400-$500/mo. when spread over a year; however, repairs can be thousands per occurrence. It's totally worth it to me, but wanted to flag this....read morehide0 out of 0 people found this review helpful.

- Pros
- The performance of this car is stunning. The cache of its appearance is worth every penny.
- Cons
- Fuel economy is poor. But then again, the engine seems engineered for the Space Shuttle.

- Pros
- Absolutely gorgeous car, good gas mileage for luxury, spacious interior
- Cons
- not a thing
I fell in love with the S class when they first were introduced in 2000. The curvy, aggressive looking exterior was a delight to look at and the spacious interior was perfect. Adding a few after market peices like the AMG offset 18" wheels, Zebrano wood steering wheel and shift knob, and the double barrell AMG exhaust pipes makes this car the a mean looking specimen with all the luxury intact. It's not cheap and the upkeep will keep you busy, but it's worth every last penny. Pull up to any valet station or a company outing and watch everyone's heads turn. This is the perfect car, doesn't matter if you're a 55 year old CEO or a 34 yr old CEO in training (that would be me!). Go test drive one and fall in love!...read morehide

We bought the car in black with tan
interior S500. Drove the car home and the next day with all of 10 miles on the car the transmission failed. It
has the new 7 speed trans. Our neighbor has the same car and same exact problem. We had so many trans
porblems MBZ bought the car back.3 out of 3 people found this review helpful.

I currently own a BMW 7-Series, and an Audi a-8, and this S-Class is by far the most fun, and most luxery car that I own. Mercedes-Benz has held up it's reputation.

The only good thing about this car is the exterior looks. Inside everything sucks. When you start the car it feels as if elephants have started running. When you speed up the car it has a slow acceleration and the noise which the engine makes is as if the engine is going to burst off sky high. Owned one S500 two months back and the problems started off from the second week, so had to sell it off the other month. Too complicated interior. Better to buy BMW becuase this car ROCks....read morehide

This is quite a strange car. I don't really see the need for an AMG version - S-Classes are built for big bosses who don't like to go fast. But I like this car. It's fast yet comfortable. It might be very, very expensive and forces down gas, but for the buyers it is targeting for it really doesn't matter. Probably the best S-Class yet, if not the best Merc....read morehide

Well, after riding in a S430, I say this car is overrated. The ride is sumptuous and absorbs irregularites in the pavement extremely well, and the 4MATIC all-wheel drive is helpful in slippery conditions. However, it impairs acceleration and fuel economy. Also, the car's controls are non-intuitive and the cup holders didn't work at all in the car I drove in. I would recommend the Audi A8 L instead. Quattro all-wheel drive is indefinetly better, as well as having a more intuivite MMI system, and a limo-like rear seat....read morehide

A TORQUE MONSTER. This engine puts those huge 16l V8 diesels in the Semi's to shame. This engine would be more at home in a pick-up truck were you need tons of low-en torque. The engine alone is what won me over to this car as a high end luxury liner.
