- Great Ride, Ample Power, COMFORT!!!
- Steering Wheel a bit skinny, maintenance cost
Purchased As Used
Hands down the most wonderful car I've owned to date. The ride is luxurious, smooth, with plenty of power to spare. During the winter the handling on ice and snow is amazing as it feels like I'm cruising on dry pavement.
The only detractor is the cost associated with the maintenance but a small price for the quality of the drive!
This car delivers on all levels. The daily commute is made bearable by the comfort, stability, and handling. The S500 is regally appointed with a supple leather that welcomes you to sit for hours. The controls once familiarized are well positioned to allow for ease of use. Overall this vehicle is a king of the road! On a side note I might add that as I have had to replace sensors as my black beauty is now over the 125K mark Mercedes Benz USA has been a true gem! I was traveling recently when an integral sensor gave up the ghost while on the highway; due to having my maintenance done by Mercedes I contacted the 800 number and Mercedes though I am the second owner of this car and bought it from another entity treated me as though I had bought this brand new off the lot and paid to have my S500 to the closest Mercedes dealer and got me on the road again by arranging for my rental while the sensor was replaced. Since that one and ONLY instance of momentary disappointment in my S500 this oustanding vehicle has run like the champion thoroughbred it is! Mercedes is more than just owning an outstandingly engineered vehicle but it's an experience that is worth the cost of ownership!...read morehide

- Gorgeous, plush interior, smooth ride, beautiful silhouette
- Steering wheel a little heavy, the $85K price tag
The Mercedes S-class sedan never fails to thrill. The interior of the car is supurbly comfortable and plush - the rear legroom is really outstanding. The car is nice to drive but do take a break and sit in the backseat, it is so pleasant.
The agility of the car belies its large size, but the ride is nonetheless quiet and supersmooth, jus what you would expect. (thank goodness they resigned the S-class from those boxy tanks in the 1990s - I still cringe when I see those).
I still do a double-take when I pass another S-class on the road. It's classic luxury - you will pay for it - but I think it's worth every penny....read morehide

- excellent performance, uncompromised safety, a handbuilt beauty
- mercedes benz corporate customer service sucks.
finest engineering. great performance. truly a high performance car for reliable everyday use. S500 4 matic is truly a great automobile.
I have driven Lexus LS430, Bmw740LI, Audi A8 & others. Although very good cars, none compare to Mercedes S500 4 Matic....

- great acceleration, nice ride, very very comfortable, very stylish front grille (still old school)
- some controls for sterio are hard to figure out, price is a little exessive at about 84k
I think that this car would be great for anybody who could afford it. Turns a lot of heads when you pass by somebody elses car or people walking.

- Great handling, solid, well built, good fit and finish, fun to drive, elegant looking, comfortable
- Mercedes dropped free maintenance on S Class this year, console cupholder is poorly designed
I wanted an AWD vehicle for the winter driving in Chicago. The only two full size european or japanese luxury sedans that offer AWD are Audi and Mercedes Benz. I preferred the styling on the Mercedes over the Audi. I was also dissapointed that Mercedes no longer offers free scheduled maintenance on S Class vehicles, but continues to offer it on all other classes. Seems like a lousy way to treat your good high end customers. Dealer claims they dropped the free maintenance to keep the 05 prices the same as 04 without an increase. In looking at other luxury sedans I found a lot more value for the price in an Audi A8L, Lexus 430, Jaguar XJ XJR or BMW 745Li, in the level of standard options as well as the bottom line price when loading it up with extras. Unfortunately the Lexus, Jag and BMW sedans do not come in all wheel drive so my choice was between the Audi and Mercedes. I liked the interior and exterior styling of the Mercedes better, but paid dearly for it....read morehide

- Great acceleration, torquey engine characteristics, long list of standard features, perfect driving
- More expensive than its competitors, small horsepower considering its engine size
Although it is a bit more expensive than its competitors, S - Class is still our best choice within its class.
