S550 4MATIC shown
- $27,466 - $50,048

- Good GPS, Good local ride, COMAND, comfortable front seats, looks (front)
- a bit loud on freeway, loose leather, faraway controls in back, bad ergonomics in back, small mirror
The S550 is a good car. The COMAND system, though hard to use in the beginning, is relatively easy to use once you get into the hang of it. The GPS is much better than the S500 GPS; it has a better screen, more destinations, etc. The front seats, as usual for Mercedes, is very comfortable. Now, for the seats, you can control the 10 stage lumbar via through the COMAND system.
Try to get more options in the back seats area as it is very bland without options (there is a big empty area which is supposed to be used for 4 zone climate control; it looks pretty awkward, like a big fat mouth) A good thing about that area is that it has much more storage area.
The trunk is also improved with more nets, cargo area, organizers, and a umbrella holder. The wheels are also bigger with better tires.
Though the Mercedes S550 is very pricey among it's competitors, you'll probably get a good price after comparing and bargaining excessively (ie getting a 90,000 S550 for only $1375 monthly payment (48 month, 12,000 mi per yr. lease) THAT IS VERY CHEAP.
Overall, the Mercedes S550 is a very excellent car. Just get used to COMAND, and you'll probably love the S550. It's more luxurious and has more features than ever. Take a test drive to see for yourself!
