- Can be a gas guzzler, Can be quite expensive.
At a steep price, the S600 is perhaps one of the safest cars in the world. They were, after all, the ones who patented their safety steering system, safety door locks, and pioneered ABS. I love how you can be driving the car in snow and know that you are safe, provided you use wise judgement.
The vehicle has improved roll-over protection. It's Distronic PLUS actually drives the car for you. All you have to do is steer. If for some reason the car in front breaks immediately, the S600 applies at least 40% (so they say) of the car's power to the brakes to avoid any collision. This actually proved useful already.
In the event of a fatal accident, which we have not been in thankfully, TeleAid automatically dials for help, GPS pinpoints your location anywhere in the world, and the Mercedes Benz Operator will be able to direct help to you as soon as possible.
If you go the extra mile with the Guard, (oh boy is it wonderful!), you will receive exceptional protection, even that beyond BMW. New technology provides, Ballistic resistance, biological/chemical agent resistance, fire extinguishing system, Runflats standard, Reinforced frame for more resistance to impacts, Pre-SAFE standard to increase passengers/driver protection, fragment explosive protection, Passive-SAFE standard, Post-SAFE standard.
All in all, the S600 is as they say. In the back you're in a limosine and in the front you're in a race car. It has exceptional performance and safety. If ever in trouble, you can rest assured that the car's controls may take over to help you. I have experienced this already. Perhaps its time you did too.
If you have a family, a Mercedes is an ideal vehicle to own. After all, Mercedes always stood for safety....read morehide

i have been a mb enthusiast, and i have owned these cars for over 30 years. this car has so many features, left me breathless. more comfortable than any other luxury car of its class, and trust me, i ride lots of them, and fast as a rocket. that's why i have one sitting in my garage. price might seem high to the average buyer, but i think is money well spent for who can afford the price range.
whoever disses on this car, or any mb, it;s just jealous....read morehide

- Excellent ride, performance and features. Everything is standard.
We started out looking for a S550 but after driving the S600 it was impossible to go back, too many features to give up. The engine is amazing, smooth, quiet and powerful.

- Good fuel economy, GPS comes standard
Mercedes Benz has done it again. The S-class will always be the KING of sedans, believe me. It is just the greatest car ever.
Although I don't own one yet, I just might one day.
Mercedes Benz, stay on top always !!!

- Too much to mention
I find it absurd that we would even compare the Lexus to this Mercedes Benz S600. In reading the opinions of how the Lexus "looks" better and that the Benz is distigusting my response is... Are we looking at the same car? I mean the Lexus is plain and wonderful if your 78 years old and retired. It is such a boring car to look at it's just pitiful. I have had the pleasure to drive both and the Benz out performs the Lexus by a landslide. The Benz is an eye catcher, head turner and every where I went people were in awe. Can't say the same about the very bland Lexus. Lexus makes a great car, no hating here! But please comparing the S600 to the Lexus is like comparing Tiger Woods to an amature golfer. The Benz appeals to all ages but the Lexus looks like a grandpa's car. Until you have hit a corner in the 600 doing 85 and mashed the gas and got up to 145mph, don't talk to me about a Lexus 460. No comparison!!...read morehide

The Lexus LS is the car I would drive if I could not afford the best sedan in the world. Unfortunately, those who can't afford the S600 make themselves feel better by denigrating it. While Lexus puts out a good product (I have the Lexus SUV LX 470), it is not remotely comparable to the S600. The S600 is a Ferrari masquerading as a sedan. Try it for yourself and see. My comments are for the difference between the S600 and the top of the line Lexus sedan, not the S550 and a Lexus. Notwithstanding the foregoing, I am hopeful that Lexus can one day build a car that can compete with the S600. If they can build it one day, I would buy it. I respect what the Japanese are doing....read morehide

- Great materials used to build the car
- looks no harmony in the styling, quality
The new Mercedes-Benz S-Class is just about the ugliest car on the road along side the BMW 7 series.
I drive a new Lexus LS 460 and I think it is way better. At least when I hit the road with my family, I know that I will get to my destination with out having to stop at the next MB dealership to have my car fixed. Most of my friends that drive MB end up trading in their MB for a different car, usually a Lexus.
I will say that the new Lexus in not all that great looking, but compared to the MB, BMW it is drop dead Beautiful. The Lexus interior is a work of art in design and function. Again, sorry Mercedes and BMW back to the drawing board for you. I actually liked the previous generation of the S class much better, it looked sexy and the inside was open and very clean, the new S class looks horrible, it lacks harmony in its styling and the interior looks bulky , with all the great materials that the MB has, the dash just looks bad. There is no flow to the dash design.
I would also like to say for the people who need the feel of arriving in a grand car or the feeling of prestige, Lexus rivals Mercedes any day. It is Mercedes trying to play catch up with Lexus in this day and age. The only difference is that Lexus has always been an understated car where Mercedes tries to say look at me.
If you really are looking at buying the MB or the Lexus I would suggest you read Consumer Reports there you will find an unbiased opinion. You will also see how great the Lexus is in fit and finish and the quality of the whole car. You will also see the Mercedes and sorry guys it just does not add up....read morehide

- Attractive styling, accelerates better than a Porsche 911, luxury beyond the limit
- More expensive than BMW, Audi, and Jaguar competitors
I will start this off by saying that I do not own an S600. But i test drove it and my neighbor has one. I found the car to be a great performer, w/ great looks, and more luxury than you really needed. I asked the sales person how much it went for and he said $170,000. My mouth dropped. I like my A8 W12 better than that and it costs $25,000 more.... The Audi is still a rocket ship (not as much as the S600 but more than the BMW 760Li) and has more luxury features. I'm sticking to Audi...read morehide

- Best Luxury V12 for the money!
This is the best luxury V12 for the money! It pampers you in every turn, night vision is cool. It looks and feels like somebody slashed the price of Maybach by half. Five Star for S600.
