- Brute power and top line technology
- price and some quality issues
I had an SL 500 which was a very nice car but not much more than a tourer - then the opportunity to buy an SL55 came my way and I took it. It's been an exciting time with the SL55, all the same features as the SL 500 but with more power than the average driver can manage or use - it's an art to get the car off the line without time loss due to wheel-spin. Having had a 2001 Posche Turbo (996T) the comparison is insightful: The SL55 is a much more powerful car but the Porsche had traction, braking and road-cornering ability that is unmatched on the road for the price. If you want a track-car, the 996T is your best choice, on the other hand if you are seeking a fun, powerful and impressive daily-driver, the SL55 is the hands down winner in my opinion - provided you can afford it (the one main drawback).
Good luck in your pusuit of auto happiness!
