- Just WOW! Driving excellence for a reasonable price
If you want a ride that is unequaled in the world, skip the Porche, etc. give this machine a try. Let the dealer take you for a ride before you try. The car can do more than you can imagine.
Traded in a slk 230 for this model.

- Sharp Mucular Design, good fuel economy, just a split second difference than the 350
- Cup holders are in a bad place above all the electrical dash board equipment
After test driving several 350's and several 280's I was instantly sold on the SLK280. Price is $4,000 less in most cases than the SLK350 similarly priced. Speed up to 60 MPH is only a split second difference than the SLK350. Same body style and features exactly as the SLK350. Not all that crazy about the stereo system. My SLK 230 has a better sounding stereo. Supposed to have 9 speakers according to window sticker but we certainly cant find 9 :) All in all.. great fun car that really turns heads....read morehide

- 27.8 mpg for a 6cyl. 3.0 is very good
- even at c the ride is a little rough. tire should come in 18 inch.
I bought the slk 280 for my wife 60th birthday, I had just broke it in. with the price, and a benz, i enjoy every moment. when i turn over the key and start driving it i can not put into word how she love the car. i can not even borrow from her anymore. it an affordable roadster with a class.

- good price, nice style, good performance, but...
- engine broke after 2700 miles
this is my girl friend's car, only 2700 miles, it broke on the rode. that was on her way home, she stopped the car at a traffic light and stepped on the brake, when the light turned green, she stepped on gas, but it was not moving!!! MB towed the car to the dealer, they found a defect part in the engine. one of my friend had a 2005 slk350, had some similar engine problem, too. the car was shaking on the road, he shut it off and had a 45 mintues call to his machenic friend, he restarted the car and it run normal, but he traded it in after 2 weeks......read morehide

- Great fuel economy and a pleasure to drive
I love the feel and the excitement of driving this car. In seconds I can put the top down and it's an entirely different vehicle. Mercedes did a great job on the SLK280 that should be called the SLK300. No problems and great road handling and I've had more comments from other drivers then with any other vehicle....read morehide

- style, power, handling, hardtop, mileage
I love my SLK280: muscular style, powerful engine, excellent handling, beautiful retractable hardtop, and good mileage.
With 3000 cc engine, I dont know why MB could not name it as SLK300.
During 1000 miles, once it had a temporary false alarm, passenger seat belt warning, which lasted for 10 minutes.
As 6-ft driver, I feel hard to reach the door handler and its window buttons, and the touch-shifter.
They are almost in shorter distance than my elbows position.
The center rear mirror view is somehow little blocked by the higher trunk hood.
The cup holder is definitely in the wrong place.
In order to keep price low, MB only installs basic options in most dealer cars.
For ex, my $1700 Entertainment package does not include GPS or 6-CD changer.
Surprisingly garage door opener and ceiling mirror light are not included in this MSRP $50725 car.
From my Lexus LS-430, MB ML-430, and Volvo 850 turbo experience, this is one greatest car.
To enjoy the life, I wish I had this car earlier....read morehide

Pros: SLR look, nice grunt fron the 6 cylinder, refined interior, good value
Cons: If you don't get the GPS, the console looks empty
Completely different car from the predecessor. No competition both in performance and luxury. All this for almost the same price. Hopefully the SL starts to look like this....read morehide
