- Great for spirited driving but also great for longer trips and day to day use.
- Bi-Level Xenon lights are an option not commonly seen on the lot
Purchased As New
I purchased this car a few months ago and have found it to be light years ahead of the previous SLK (R170) that I had. The car is a great combination of performance, luxury, and comfort making this car a jack of all trades. You can turn down the computer and switch to sport mode which gives it a more aggressive feel or put it in comfort mode which is great for the longer trips. The car has a solid and well built feel to it but still feels responsive when you get up on it.
A few suggestions, be sure to get the heating package, premium package, and lighting. The airscarf and heated seats make it comfortable to cruise top down to about 50 degrees. The premium package adds lumbar support in the seats that you can adjust to fit your spine along with rain sensing wipers and some other bits thrown in. I know it sounds like small stuff but it all adds up making the car very comfortable for long trips. The lighting package (IMHO should be included for this price of a car) upgrades the headlamps to the Bi-Xenon bulbs which are considerably better than the stock halogens. The only last few recommendations I have would be get the ipod interface (works great and gives you vast amounts of music on tap) and the plexiglass windscreen.
While I absolutely love this car and find it to be a happy blend between pure sports car and cruiser some may have a different view. If your looking for a pure performance car you may be better suited for a boxster. If your looking for a pure cruiser maybe a SL suits you. But if your looking for a car that looks great, can easily be a daily driver, is well behaved, can handle longer trips with ease and thrown in occasionally spirited rides take a serious look at the SLK.
