- A head turner, and it has the famous Mclaren badge on it.
- A Mercedes SL with a party suit on, doesnt feel special, too much plastics in the interior..etc..etc
The Mercedes Slr, which i'm sure you are already aware of costs in the region of $400.000, which is far too much for a car which looks too much like a mercedes SL, sure it has Lamborghini doors, and brakes which turn orange once applied but this does not justify the price tag. It has a fantastic engine, which makes all the right notes but still gives you a cold feeling, like many German cars, they don't give the driver a lot of satisfaction, too many computer driver aids. Many people will think this is a great car, because it has a big mercedes badge on the bonnet and that it must be the best car on earth because it is the most expensive Mercedes (excluding the Maybach 62) you can buy. However these are the people which don't really know anything about cars...a performance car means more then having a big engine, it has to have soul as well, much like Lamborghinis had before Audi ownership, or of course how Ferrari still are. The interior of the SLR is also a huge let down...i has the prillage of driving one with a horrid red interior, and it was terrible, the interior reminded me too much of sitting in an SL350, the only noticable difference was the fact it had SLR written in the center console. To be fair, from the outside it does look okay, but then again a Toyota Camry looks okay aswell...for $400,000 it does not look at all special enough and has far too many similarilites with the Merceded SL, which is a fine car and luckily does not come with the option of having a red interior, which will give you a terrible headache.
This car is a huge a disappointment, Its clear to see what audience this car is marketed at though...isn't? the kind of man you would see driving an SLR could also be seen on BET, or MTV...or even running with a ball in his hand in a game of televised football....buy something like a Ferrari 612, and with the spare change you could buy some twenty two, spinning, gold plated rims which are covered in diamonds??? or what ever there called, as anyone which would buy such vulgar "look at me everyone" car...would ofcourse have such a pair of alloy wheels attached to this Mercedes SL, with a party suit on. Saying that, it will blend in perfectly with the sixteen bedroom mansion it will be parked outside.
