I bought the 2010 C300 4matic sport sedan. There have been minor problems i.e. the fog light cover breaking and needing replacing(wasn't covered under warranty) and the sirius radio and live traffic update froze and they had to replace the satellite receiver. I thought it was a software issue but they thought otherwise. They gave me a comparable model as a loaner while they fixed mine. Overall C300 is a great ride but the little problems are annoying for a high end car like this....read morehide

I moved up from a MINI Cooper S to this car. While it may not get 31 mpg on the highway, it makes up for it by providing an extremely comfortable cabin that doesn't rattle or creak like that of my former MINI. The 7-speed auto is refined and oozing with power. The multimedia system is amazing, and the trunk is huge! I kept the MB-tex upholstery and am glad I did since it feels like the expensive leather option in my MINI....read morehide

I purchased the C300 sport 4Matic new, may 09 and it was leaking trans fluid, seal from manufacturer not seated correctly. The car was in service for only one day and it is like nothing was ever wrong. I am happy with my car, very fun to drive.

Bought this car for my wife.....what a way to get points and out of the dog house. She loves it and has fun driving it as well. So far so good with no let downs. Good visiability with no blind spots. It likes tires though.....
We will definitely look at the new C-Class models when it's time to retire this one, which it appears make take a while....read morehide

I am lucky that we are stationed overseas in Germany and I picked up my brand new 2010 C350 from the factory near Stuttgart. Awesome experience! It took 4 months for the car to be built, that tested my patience, but it was well worth the wait. Germans don't do things fast, but they do them right. My car is artic white with the almond/mocha interior with the burlwood maple trim, looks stunning! I added package II with the Bi-Xenon lights, all leather, and keyless go, I NEVER have to use my key! I have only gone 100mph, per recommendation from Mercedes for the 1st 1000 miles, feels like I driving 60mph. Hard to keep it under 100mph, because it rides so smooth. I drove the car all weekend on autobahn and I must say I get it now, why people buy Mercedes. This is my first. I was torn between the Audi A4 and Volvo S60 and I stumbled accross the C350 doing research. I drove all 3 and the 350 had the best comfort inside, my husband is a big man. I had a really bad experience dealing with Audi, lets just say if that is how they do business they weren't getting mine. I made the better choice picking the C350. Much more HP than the 2 and the interior is not "cheap" looking by any means as some reviews have mentioned, recommend getting the leather upgrade, big difference! The C350 is laid out better inside between the 3, for instance the back of the front seats have been curved out for more knee room for the back seat passengers. The directional stick sits very low and can be confused with the cruise control, but after driving it a few days and on the autobahn I get why, keeps your hands on the wheel. All you have to do is slightly push it up or down and it automatically gives 3 blinking signals, no more turning off the signal while passing. Cruise control is always on and is a simple push up on the stick. The sound is awesome for factory speakers, I did not get the navigation because it does not work over in Europe and I already have a $600 portable nav system. I will probably add it when we go back to the states. The 2010 model offers features "alla carte" as opposed to having to get a package to get what you want and stuff you don't want, so that is a big plus! I got a really good deal buying the car over here, no taxes and 10% military dicount, but even without that the car is a bargain for what you get. I did not buy this car for gas mileage, I bought it for performance, but I am getting 22 mpg average. I drove a Nissan Maxima for 10 years and cried when I sold it, but the comments I get about the Mercedes, "wow, what a beautiful car and so sporty".... "she just looks mean, like get out of my way mean"...says I am driving the real 4 door sports car now! I am afraid to take the car back to the states, I will end up in jail from speeding tickets....read morehide

I have been wanting to buy the best entry level luxury car. Have been doing a lot of research and test driving cars. I narrowed down my final two choices to the 328i and the Mercedes C300. I drove both of these cars extensively (rented both).
All online reviews about the 328i will tell you that it is "more fun to drive" and has better performance etc. After I drove the 328i, I kind of understand what they mean. But I feel that for the average buyer looking for a luxury car, the 328i is not what you are looking for. The Mercedes C300 is truly a luxurious drive. It drives so smoothly and the 7-speed transmission shifts so softly that you can hit the gas pedal as hard as you want and it will shift very smoothly. The 328i on the other hand has a very jerky shift. Sure it may do 0-60 faster than the C300, but it will be a lot more jerky too. The suspension in the C300 is orders of magnitude superior to the 328i. The engine noise in the 328i is terrible compared to the very quiet C300.
The steering wheel of the 328i is terribly stiff. The purists will tell you that that is typical of BMW and sports cars. But for the average driver like me looking for a great luxury car, the steering is too stiff in the 328i. The C300 on the other hand has a steering that is so smooth that I could turn 90 degrees using one finger at great speeds. Sure the BMW may be slightly better if u are driving atop winding hills at 90 mph, but that is not average driving unless u live in Montana.
The brakes are another thing that the C300 beats the 328i by a long shot. The C300 brakes from 60-70 mph to 0 absolutely smoothly with a very good feel on the brake pedal. The 328i on the other hand will brake, but u can tell the car is struggling to do it, the vehicle shakes a bit and the pedal vibrates quite a bit.
Also try doing a very fast U-turn on the 328i versus C300. You will instantly see the superior performance of the C300. The BMW on the other hand struggles to get back in a straight line and swerves.
Bottom line is this friends. If you are looking for a truly luxury car, then at a minimum you HAVE TO test drive the Mercedes C300. Don't just trust the online reviews and BLINDLY buy the 328i. What you are looking for may be very different than what the reviewers were paying attention to.
Don't buy the BMW without at least test driving the C300. And if possible rent both cars for at least a few hours of driving rather than the courtesy 10 minute test drive. Most dealers, if you insist will let you loan a car for a couple of hours.
And don't just make your decision based on the jazzy interior of the BMW, look at the driving performance of the C300. You dont want to make a decision of this magnitude based on a fancier dash etc....read morehide

I leased it brand new in 2008. Since then, the hood pops up, the paint falls off the window switches, the wipers produce twisty noise like nothing you expect on an european make. The craftmanship is not tolerable. I've expressed my ownership experience to Mercedes to see how they respond.

An absolute pleasure to drive! No issues at all with suspension etc. as written by another reviewer. Very good power. Good stability at high speeds and on back-roads. Great traction on pavement and some off-road. Love the cornering. Comfort inside the cabin is very good. Intuitive positioning of controls and good COMMAD system. The best car in the small car segement. And at a decent price, what's there to whine about?
Bought the 2009 new - have driven it for over a year now. Love it. An absolute keeper!!...read morehide
