- Good stero, sun/moon roof, great small SUV for price, looks great, roomy inside
- Engine power very average, rough shift from park to another gear, braking needs improvement
I owned a BMW x3 before this purchase so my standards may be high. Yet I love this car. We did a great deal of reasearch to find a small SUV that was affordable. The previously mentioned BMW had a price jump of 10 grand so other options had to be explored. One option was the Ford Escape, but compared to the Mariner their was no question which car was better. The Mariner has a nice sound system if you purchase the autofile option. The sun/moon roof is a great amenity. I am a tall person and this car is perfert in cabin height and leg room. The only improvements need to be in the engine power. The V6 200 HP is to small of a motor for this car. I know gas is high, but more HP is needed. Also the braking is very average on this car. I pay special attention to my braking distance with this car verus others I have owned. Overall this car is a great buy considering the amenties, comfort, and apperance for the price....read morehide

- Excellent fuel economy - better then rated, fantastic handling, great amenities
- Tires need to be rotated at every oil chainge - every 7500 miles
I used to have a Mountaineer, which was also a fantastic SUV but larger than I really needed. The Mariner is still roomy enough but the gas mileage and handling are leaps and bounds better. I average 27 MPG with the V6 (about 90% of my driving is expressway). With Michigan winters, I am also impressed with how well the two wheel drive maneuvers. The interior noise is minimal and the sound system is exceptional. Everyone I talk to that has an Escape or Mariner absolutely love their vehicles - me too! Way to go Ford!...read morehide

- Classy rides well, easy to handle, sturdy. I am thrilled with the performance.
- Wish their were handles above the doors in front. Would like a bigger gas tank.
Overall very satisfied with the car. In next design consider the arrangement to lock and unlock etc on the key, it is easy to hit the rear window lock and drive away finding out it is open.
The radio selection on steering wheel is great but station changes would be nice also, volume control is good too but would like to be able to change stations.
LOVE THIS VEHICLE. I HAVE NOT BOUGHT A FORD MERCURY FOR MANY YEARS AND I AM IMPRESSED AT THE IMPROVEMENT IN THE PRODUCT.
GREAT JOB!!...read morehide
