PURCHASED NEW IN OCT 06; NEVER STEPPED FOOT IN THE DEALERSHIP, NEGOTIATED THE DEAL OVER THE PHONE, AND THE SUV WAS DELIVERED 70 MILES TO MY HOME. 0% FINANACING FOR 5YRS WAS A BIG REASON FOR BUYING AND THE FACT THAT I COULD, AND STILL CAN, USE THE HOV LANES IN N. VIRGINIA, DURING PEAK HOV ONLY HRS. SEATS ARE NOT AS COMFORTABLE AS I'D LIKE. BEING AN SUV, IT IS UTILITARIAN. GETTING 27MPG IN TOWN, 31 ON HWY, AND I HAVE A LEAD FOOT. I'LL KEEP IT TILL THE HYBRID ENGINE FAILS, I THINK THE WARRANTY ON THE ENGINE IS 7 YRS....read morehide

- Pros
- Great all-around vehicle, does everything better than I expected!
- Cons
- Only one is that Mercury is no more!
Purchased As Used
Excellent vehicle, no complaints other than the demise of Mercury. SUV is a few years old now and looks as good as new. Absolutely one of the best vehicles I have ever owned(and I've owned several Japanese, German-Porsche 911 , etc.), this is definately a keeper.

I've had my Mariner for 3 years and have not had a single thing go wrong with it. It's a great little SUV and I hope to have it for a long time.

- Cons
- Ride a little harsh on big bumps

My 2009 Mariner Hybrid FWD was purchased new on Christmas Eve of 2008, so it's 2 years 8 months old. It's been a great vehicle, averaging 33.6 mpg overall for the entire period in Michigan which has cold winters. Average seasonal values are 36.4 mpg in the 8 warm months of the year and 28.4 mpg during the 4 cold months. It's also fun trying to see how high the average for a tank can go. Last tank was the best so far at 41.9 mpg helped by a really hot summer for Michigan. The longest distance on a tank of gas so far is 545 miles, The ability to drive up to 40 mph with the gas engine shutting down and re-starting on it's own is also fun to watch.
Also love the sound system, Sirius satelite radio, sync handsfree bluetooth phone feature, ipod usb connection, and vehicle health report feature that can be run as desired and viewed online later. Overall a great vehicle for a resonable cost....read morehide0 out of 0 people found this review helpful.

DEFECT ON FORD SUV HYBRID!!!!! My 08 Mercury Mariner has 63k miles and the Motor Electronics Cooling System Pump has had to be replaced twice. But don't take my word for it. Seach Ford Technical Service Buletin 08-24-5 or 08-15-1 and see how many postings come up.
