2007 Mercury Milan User Reviews
V6 Premier AWD shown
- $8,051 - $9,762
- More horses than Montego/Ford 500, Excellent audio system, Fuel economy, Quality workmanship of prod
- Front seats difficult to exit, High rear deck decreases backing visibility, Subwoofers pop on brakin
My wife and I were at the dealership picking up her SUV after service. When we arrived there was a vacant spot in the center of the showroom floor. When we walked back through the showroom, an almost fully-loaded, tungsten grey, Milan Premier filled the previously vacant spot on the floor. Neither of us could walk past this beautiful machine. Fit and finish were very impressive. We took a similarly-appointed Milan for a 30 minute test drive and were sold. Very soon, I was the proud owner of the Premier from the floor.
After six weeks of ownership and 1,200 miles, I am as much, if not more in love with this car as the first day. 26 mpg (city only) and it's not really broke-in yet. A solid, quiet ride, firm, sure-footed handling which is reminiscent of driving a sports car. The 6-disc MP3 Audiophile stereo with 8 speakers, is one of the best factory systems I have heard.
The looks of this car are very unique. Although based on the Mazda 6 platform and basically the same vehicle as Fusion and MKZ, it is a perfect compromise between the lower-end Ford and the higher-end Lincoln. I don't know if it's a good thing, or not, but during the course of my ownership, I have only spotted 4 or 5 other Milans in my area. I do however see an abundance of Fusions and MKZ's(Zephyrs).
The only negatives of my experience, thus far, is that the front buckets, while very comfortable, are a little difficult to exit from. The high, rear deck provides a limited view of what's behind and drivers behind you at a stop appear closer than what's comfortable. On occassion, when braking, a pop sound can be heard through the rear deck-mounted subwoofers.
I am a hands-on owner who changes the oil and filters myself. I have throughly explored the engine compartment over and under. I was plesantly surprised to find that I can easily reach the oil drain plug and filter without raising the car.
As a driver who has long relationships with his vehicles (10 years on avg.) I am looking forward to driving this car for a long time. I do not see myself tiring of this car. It's a great value when matched against it's competition....read morehide

- Attractive, good fit & finish, excellent sound system, good value for dollar
- poor mileage, high rear deck=poor view backing up, electronic rearview mirror unsatisfactory.
Window sticker says 19mpg city, 27mpg highway. I'm no virgin, I expected 17 and 25... I wish! Just did a 160 mile pure highway trip. 75mph on cruise control and just barely got 22mpg. In town I get 15mpg and that's not lead-footing. It doesn't go as well as my 8-year old Maxima and eats 20% more gas doing it.
I'm putting dark film on the rear window; I'm tired of hanging my hand on mirror to avoid being blinded by my tailman. A regular "flip up-flip down" mirror would be greatly superior to the optional electronic option.
These probably are the best seats I've encountered in an American car, ever. If they had extended the seat bottom forward another inch or two they really would be excellent.
AWD is very nice. What ever possessed the engineers to give the driver a gear choice of first-gear-only or all six? In the snow I'd like to lock it down into the bottom two or three. Locking it into first gear is useful for stump pulling with a tractor. I can't imagine what I'm supposed to do with it in this car.
On balance, it's a good car in the hands of pretty finicky guy....read morehide

- Finally an american mid size that can beat the imports for the money.
- Misaliegn tail light
This car is well balanced. If this car holds out without mechanical problems and has a decent resale value, then american cars are making a comeback. I have had a lot of new cars and have rented a few in my 42 years of driving 25,000 plus miles a year. (I'm a salesman) This 2007 Milan is nice. My wife likes it too....read morehide

- Good Economy, classy inside and out, very nice ride and good power. Leather buckets, very comfy.
- None so far.
Getting ready to test drive a Ford Fusion, I went into dealers showroom, My wife had told the sales rep she didn't want a white car, he was getting keys for a test ride and on the way out I saw a WHITE 2007 Milan with leather trim. I t was very good looking to me. We rode in the Fusion V-6 and it was ok. I told the wife they had a Milan inside I thought she would like. We went in and she fell in love with it. We test drove the Milan and it was much nicer and more comfy than the Fusion. She loves the car, and so do I....read morehide

- Great fuel economy, very comfortable seating, great features, luxury looks
I have had the most comments on my car. It has a luxury look about it, and a luxury feel. It has a very comfortable ride. It also has great features inside. I would postively recommend this car for quality and value.

- Styling, smooth riding, excellent transmission, nice features included
- Stiff steering in town, seat comfort could be softer
I bought a 2007 Camry in May. Traded it in for a Milan in Sept. I love this Milan...blows away the Camry (poor transmission and sluggish 4 cyl engine). Transmission is secure and smooth shifting. Bought a 6 cyl Milan to get the steady acceleration on hills. I have 1050 miles so far and am getting 23-25 mpg in city and highway driving (not as good as a 4 cyl but decent none the less). All sorts of extra bells and whistles. Great looking wheels. I have received several compliments on it during the past week. I'm glad I made the change!...read morehide

- Great styling, good accelaration, sporty european look, rides great
- Slightly difficult to get in and out of front seats
I looked at a number of sedans (all American) and when I saw the Millan I knew this was the car for me. Its great styling and appeal is a big hit with me. I think this is a winner and hopefully a big seller!

- Good fuel economy,very sporty,looks great,handles great,lots of pep from the 3.0l v-6,great stereo
- can't think of one
Bought this for my wife who is pickey as all get out, traded in our truck with gas at $3.00 a gal. with a 30 gal. tank.it was expensive to fill it and hard to fill at half tank, when not used to it.The 0% interest for 72 months was to good to pass up to. My wife loves the milan and i do to.I bought a '06 Grand marquis 6 weeks before that i like, but we drive the milan every where we go mostly. The stereo is great and sounds great with the 6 speakers.Used to have a'03 Honda accord lx that at the time was a real nice car since ford didn't have anything but the tarus which i never liked. My wife wont let me drive it to work, she likes it that much, and the LED Taillight's are awesome looking.I drove a lincoln zephyer 6 weeks earlier but the extra $10,000 isn't worth it. Glad to see ford, lincoln, mercury finally come out with a very very nice mid -size car....read morehide

- Nice appearance; love LED tail lights; Plenty of "pep"(though not a sports car)
- No navigation(2006)HID headlights; Otherwise fine
Just bought '06 Milan in Satellite Silver with "Charcoal & Light Stone"
interior. Was planning on buying an '07 next spring, but 0% financing
was the clincher. I hear they'll offer the THX Navigation & AWD later in '07. Test drove Lincoln Zephyr with THX Navigation. Very cool.
That and slightly higher quality leather/stereo just don't warrant the nearly extra $10K....read morehide
