- Excellent comfort
- Not a sporty car
Purchased As New
I have owned this car for 5 years and can't say enough good things about it. I carry kids around often and feel it is the safest car with the side air bags. I like the way it sits alittle higher than most sedans.

- Roominess, and luxury feeling, car sits high, thats good , good brakes, to much body roll though.
- Passenger side ride so so, ground noise,and strut noises , engine hesitates on spirited take off.
I saw the original prototype drawings, and I think they should have followed that to a T, also the front end could be tighter, kinda like a BMW or Infinity feel. I hope this six speed auto trans, has no recalls, after all GM & Ford worked on it together

- Not getting the MPG I expected, but haven't had any long trips.
- Ride good, excellent steering & braking. Low road/wind noise
The "dingers" for seat belts, doors open, etc etc are TOO LOUD! Anybody know how to turn them down/off??
Got mine just before the "family pricing", so paid too much!
Haf GMs for years, but they essentially abandoned me. Miss some of the GM goodies, like scrolling thru the presets from the steering wheel controls....read morehide

- Very Roomy interior
- Cheap Ugly Plastic Wood Trim
I am a 21 year old college Student this is my first new car a Mercury Montego Strange for a College student with a Mercury huh well any way the 2005 Mercury Montego is a overall very nice car it is very roomy and i really like the 18 in rims that come standard on the Premier model it has a great feel of thr road it rides very well and the heated/cooled front seats come in handy the car has a fairly strong engine but it could use about 50 more horses and pounds feet of torque and the LED Tail lamps and HID Headlamps come in good use in foggy or rainy weather not to the nitty gritty the cars interior is sort of cheaply designed with the ceap wood trim and fake leather and if i had have took more time and looked around more i could got a nicer looking Mercury Sable LS Premium Priced at $24,500 Or a Ford Five Hundred Limited Priced at $26,500 both made with a nicer interior and more Chrome and Red Cherry Wood Trim insted of the ugly Gray Wood Trim i could have saved up to $5,000 Dollars and got a better looking car so i would Give the Mercury Montego 4 Stars and the Mercury Sable and Ford Five Hundred 5 STARS So any one that wants a CHEAP bland interior but a classy looking exterior the Mercury Montego is what you need but if you are looking for a Classy interior and Exterior You need a Mercury Sable or Ford Five Hundred All 3 Practically the Same Car...read morehide

- Economy ,Rear Seat room ,Gas Mileage,
- Mast Antenna on a 30K car? Why only heat Drivers Seat?
~~~Why did Ford put this Stupid Mast antenna on this car?~~ there isn't one on the competiton. None on a Volvo or Lincoln either.
Should have left it off the Montego version, it ruins the curb appeal for a car with HID headlights & LED tailights.[Ford even stuck a Mast antenna on the rear of 2005 Crown Victoria's. The VP in charge of this decision should be fired!]
***Only Driver's seat heated, both front seats should have been heated as standard equipment.***
NOT underpowered despite what Consumer Reports says, with gas at$2-2.50 you'll be glad you have one of these in your driveway....read morehide
- Excellent ride, initial quality, great fuel economy, attractive interior, super cargo space
- passenger power seat does note adjust up or down
A pleasure to drive in any weather with excellent seats and controls, solid steering and handling, yet a very smooth ride on broken road surfaces. With the high current price of gasoline, the good mileage is very much appreciated. Truly a premium car in every respect at a very attractive price. Includes many advanced safety features standard than is typical in domestic vehicles in this price range. We won't give this vehicle back for any other vehicle the dealer offered in even exchange....read morehide
- Very roomy interior and trunk, nice ride, quiet cabin, solid feel.
- Tilt wheel should have more positions.
This car is roomier and handles better than the 2002 Lincoln LS it replaced. Overall, it is a great vehicle for under $30K.
I presently own a 2003 Mercury Sable, which I may replace with the new Milan when it comes out. The Montego seems very nice, but it is a larger car than I want.
I note that the Montego has an outside fixed antenna. Please put the antenna in the window next year and (this is my main concern), in the rear window on the new Milan. Fixed exposed antennas are passe.
Don't continue this mistake on the Montego and don't start the Milan this way. IN THE REAR WINDOW!!!...read morehide
- Beautiful Smooth lines, drives well.
- Not all of the entertainment system controls on steering wheel. Engine could use a bit more power.
Have you driven a Mercury lately? Overall a great buy. Engine could use more power.
- Drove an LS Linclon before buying a Montego. Get better ride, 10 gpm better, adaquate excelleration
- Road splash gets under bottom edge of doors, but not inside of vehicle.
After road test drive we ordered a Montego because of easy entry & exit from both sides. Its a joy to drive with the higher seating, better leg room and very adaquate excelleration for the size of engine because of the 6 speed automatic. It is no bigger than the LS Lincoln outside but much bigger inside, including the trunk. The Montego has many standard features that are only available on the luxury models. Including the sliding sun visors, radio controls on steering wheel, analog clock, and a automatic dimming rear view mirrow that actually works. I drove Lincolns for 15 years and with this Mercury Montego I have not been disapointed in ride or preformance with less money spent....read morehide
