This is my second new car (First was a 2000 Sable LS Premium). That car was great, SHO V8 engine swap. Anyway, the Montego really is a great car, both for the money and for what it is. It's a family car, that is stylish and somewhat sporty. The Acceleration is great, especially low end. There are no complaints from me, as I had my share of power from my last car. This car never has any trouble getting out of situations where power is needed, ex. passing on the freeway going 85 plus, or getting around town. The Montego even handles great, thanks to it's ind. suspension and great 225-55R-18 tires. One thing, however, is the brakes. This car (and the 500 and Freestyle) are often commended for their braking capabilities, thanks to soft pads. However, I just got my tires replaced, and the tire guy told me to look at my rear discs. They were grinding on the pad!! they wore out at only 17,000 miles. They were replaced under warranty. Other than that problem, the other 2 complaints i have are the trunk it hard to lift, it doesn't pop open, just pops up. The passenger seat feels like your going to slide off under hard braking. Other than that, this car's reliabilty (minus the brakes) and safety, as well as the performance and looks, and even the space, really are selling points for me, and as I'm sure, to others as well. This car, after trade in, family pricing, emplowyee pricing, and bargaining, came out to around 22000 for the fully loaded Premium CVT/Awd. I got it Black on Black (welll, more like charcoal grey.) I love this car, but I'm going to trade it for the New 2008 Montego with the 3.5L V6. That's the only thing that can make it better. Hey, why not the Gen I and II SHO V6, or even the V8???
