2004 Mercury Sable User Reviews
LS Premium Wagon shown

- Spacious interior, plentiful features (for price point), excellent highway manners
- Stodgy styling, (woefully dated) column-mounted shifter, standard tape deck/weak stereo
Had my Sable GS for about 3 months and 4,000 miles, and all is well!
Purchased the car (new) for a steal ($12,800 net after myriad rebates/discounts) on its established merits of safety, comfort and frankly because she's one helluva step up from the Dodge Neon I previously owned!
Interior comfort surely stands as this vehicles' "ace in the hole." I'm 6'2" and can only describe all measures of space (head/shoulder/leg room) as "excellent." Added to this foundation are myriad standard amenities, and even a few "gadgets and gizmos" (the standard trip computer; very trick).
Around-town and highway power are both quite "adequete," but certainly no more. The ride (a traditional cornerstone of the American mid-size sedan), stands as smooth and controlled, though (refreshingly) not at all floaty. Indeed, I find my Sable to be a solid balance of "traditional" and "contemporary." In short - just right!
While long term reliability and durability both certainly trouble me (I intend to keep my Merc' for a looong while), initial build quality appears high with generally satisfying materials and textures throughout the interior, coupled with a (reassuring) dearth of creaks/rattles.
Only time will of course tell if my long-term relationship with this 04' Sable GS proves satisfying or not. But speaking frankly; I have faith in my country, its ability to build high quality autos, and accordingly in my chances with this car.
Here's hoping I'm not wrong.
