2005 Mercury Sable User Reviews

- Comfortable and economically satisfying, sensible for a family or even an individual.
- Performance is not sporty, styling seems to blend in with other family sedans.
I have a 2000 Mercury Sable and am just commenting to give a long term test verdict. The Sable has been a very reliable car that has never let me down. The interior is large enough for 5 somewhat comfortably but the fake plastic wood can take away some of the feel. Seats are comfortable but not sporty, and have every right to be so. I have only encountered only one situation where a repair that would not be considered routine had to be made and that was the pulley and belt became loose and had to be replaced to the tune of $150. Other than that, the vehicle has started every time I put the key in. A crack developed in the coolant tank (result of an accident which was not noted by insurance) and a replacement was found for $20 at a local junkyard, it still drips a bit of antifreeze but has never run hot or caused any condition that the vehicle could not be operated in. The other mechanicals work great (A/C still blows cold, alternator and other engine compartment accessories functioning well). I have actually put a K&N air filter and a Flowmaster exhaust on it to help it breathe a bit better and that helped improve the performance a bit (or maybe it's all in my head, either way I'm satisfied) and also helped with the fuel economy. I'm pushing 99,000 miles now and have no question in my mind that as long as I keep up with the standard maintainance items and get the first tune up between 100K-105K miles that it will keep running for a while. As a college student, this vehicle has come in very handy on the weekends to haul all the friends around and when it comes time to move the trunk and cabin area provide ample room to fit my belongings in. This car is a good choice for an average person that needs a vehicle that is economical to operate and also, while not terribly exciting to drive, is a enjoyable experience that is predictable and comfortable for long road trips and other outings...read morehide

- A lot of car for the money. THis is my second Sable.
I love the Mercury Sable. I just bought an 2005 LS Premium. The one new feature I love is the 70 watt MAch stereo system! My Sable has leather seats, sun roof, auto temperature control, and many other features. The Honda Accord LX V6 comparably eqipped was 4,000 more.

- I average 30mpg on the highway, good power, very comfortable for family of 4, 410+ mile range on gas
I have put on 15,000 miles on it and I have wished that I would have bought a car like this years ago. It is big inside with lots of room plus a huge trunk. I will not be going back to a small car again. For being just a V-6 3.0 Litre it has a lot of power. I can easily drive over any mountain pass in Utah or Wyoming without putting the pedal to the metal. It has a lot of low rpm torque so you do not have to press the pedal to hard to get it up to speed(80mph). I have even gone as far as 442 miles between fill-ups. Its a good family car....read morehide
