2008 Clubman. Bought used in 2011.
Was looking for a small SUV, saw this in a lot, and loved it as soon as I drove it. I'm 6'3", and this has plenty of leg and head room. Handles like a sports car & holds a lot of stuff. Has a magnificent sunroof, heated seats, and very nice trim. It looks small, but is about the size of my old Kia Sportage. Interior space is amazing for a car this size.
The 5 doors are great, except the front doors are very long and open very wide. The back doors swing out, a very nice thing for a guy who bumps his head on hatches, and the 5th door allows back seat passengers to easily enter w/o having to crawl over the center console.
Performance is great on this base model; powerful engine, very fast acceleration, but would be even faster with the S model's turbo. The 6 spd. manual shift makes the most of the engine's torque band and is excellent. Brakes are huge for the car, and can be pushed hard before ABS kicks in; stops on a dime.
The Clubman has a longer wheelbase, and it's a surprisingly good road car. Tracks well w/o needing constant correction.
Suspension is firm; in sports mode, even firmer, but the ride is comfortable with the bolstered sports seats. Switching lanes is very fast. The car handles very well at all speeds.
The stock run-flat tires perform well in warm weather, but are noisy and heavy. Bought a set of Blizzak winter tires which are quitter, softer ride and perfect for ice/snow/rain. I plan on buying a conventional set of all-season and buy a mini-spare when the run-flats wear out.
Excellent driver in winter w/ the winter tires. Very good traction, and sure handling. The car is relatively low, but I haven't hi-centered it yet.
Controls are very odd- mystifying at first, but some of the oddity has been corrected in new models. Everything is on 2 consoles, one above, one on center console, and all are toggle switches, including door locks and windows. This makes it hard for a carjacker to reach in and unlock doors. Outside latches get stiff and need lube occasionally.
Excellent mileage; 34 on road, 32 around town. Range is over 400 miles on tank, but runs on premium. I average 1 tank every 45 days driving around town.

Didn't know what to think of the looks when I bought it, but I like the style a lot now. It's very flashy- yellow w/black top, black racing stripes, and checkered mirrors. Ladies love the looks, and I love the handling and utility....read morehide
