Just bought Mini S. Was not planning on buying one. Just happened to be in the lot while I was shopping. I was sold on it though as soon as I drove it. I'm 6'2" really did not think it would be that comfortable but again sold on it as soon as I sat in it. My kids are all off to college so I'm not worried about the back seats. They are there but the leg room is not! It's for two people only. My coop is used 2007 60k miles on it. Runs great though. I actually don't mind my drive to work now. Big change for me.... I was driving every day a 4x4 Dodge 1500 extended cab truck. Great car by BMW...and you only have to change the oil one time a year or 15K.AWESOME...do have to use expensive oil and add some throughout the year. Winding roads are now my favorites!!!...read morehide

- Major Defects known and not honored by BMW - Expensive fix $5K

I am a loyal exclusive BMW owner since 1999. Bought the Mini S. At 60K miles the Turbo is blown due to the defective/recalled auxillary water pump cooling the turbo. Car maintained due to BMW/Mini specifications. Sent Mini my records Zack Little 866-275-6464 x 7757, BMW Customer Svc sat on my info leaving me without a car for over a month only to deny covering the defect. I called and talked to Serg Akpalo X7335 and he would not let me speak with a supervisor. Zack said a regional decision was made and Serg said Zack makes the decision. The cost to fix $5200. Car has been at the dealer for 6 weeks while BMW Customer services engaged in a ruse to give the perception they were considering the claim. They out and out lied and now are colluding to squash this claim. I like these new car owners loved the car until experiencing catastrophic failure. I now find out that this is not isolated and several class action lawsuits are pending. So folks Zack & Serg are running BMW and what you will pay will be made by them. Bye Mini, Bye BMW! I am not interested in giving my money to a company who double deals....read morehide

I smile a lot when I drive this car. It's not an S but with the sport button deployed, I would not choose to go any faster.
I love the look and feel of the rear automatic spoiler and the way the car takes corners. People always stop to tell me how much they admire the looks and styling of the car.
Rear visibility is poor and I don't like not having power seats or the ability to lock the glove box. I would also like an automatic trunk release. The trunk lid is quite heavy to close.
Overall I am very pleased with the car....read morehide4 out of 4 people found this review helpful.

The Coupe is a car for MINI fans, and before someone goes out and buys one, they need to understand that. This is an excellent, affordable, premium two-seat coupe with the fun of a MINI and the heart and mind of a BMW. If compared with like product offerings (specifically two-seat compact sports cars) visibility will be impaired across the board and is really a non-issue. Also, this can be overcome by adjusting your side mirrors......read morehide

- Pros
- Good power, great gearbox, clutch, trunk space, interior, solid body, tight steering
- Cons
- Steering too tight, color options, seats, standard shift knob

It has taken me quite some time in adjusting to the steering characteristics of this car. If you have to shift gears in a turn with a bump, even a small one, you better have a good grip on the wheel. It's like there's a return spring in the steering that wants to rip the wheel back to center when the sport button is pushed. I would very much like to get the benefits of the added power and throttle response of the sport button without the stiffer steering. Really, that's my only complaint with this car. I own a 2003 Cooper S and feel much more confident at the same speeds with the older steering system.
On the plus side I LOVE this Works engine! Third gear is a fantastic place for this car to live. When you pass, and you only have a tiny window on a narrow twisty road, BOOM! You're around and gone, just be very steady with the steering wheel! On a track day, the steering is gobs of fun. Let of the gas, turn the wheel and instantly feel the rear unweight and slide around.
The bottom line is, i can't stop smiling when I get in this car. Especially now that I've better learned how to handle it!...read morehide4 out of 4 people found this review helpful.

The new MINI Coupe' turns a lot of heads. The new style has led to a lot of camera phones snapping photos at intersections. The interior remains very similar to the MINI Cooper without the back seat. Even without the back seat, the vehicle weighs more than the regular MINI Cooper as the vehicle is based on the MINI Convertible with extra weight to stiffen the suspension. Accordingly, the increase in horsepower is offset by the increase in weight leaving the ride very similar to the MINI Cooper. All-in-all, the vehicle makes a great deal of sense in taking out a back seat that has little use in exchange for a rather large cargo area. Even though it was an anxious wait, being able to order the exact car, color and accessories was worth the 73 days to accept delivery....read morehide
