people stop me

by Paula from Lewes De (8/02/08)
Pros:great fuel economy, Love the GPS
Cons:I really can't say anything negative about this car

I HAVE A 2006. I average between 35-40 mpg. I have had more people stop me to talk about my car , One very tall gentleman actually asked me if he good sit behind the wheel to see how much leg room the car has. He was amazed.

Thank You Mini

by Dean from memphis,tn (8/02/08)
Pros:Great fuel economy, great look, great driving experience, Mini does it right!
Cons:So many options to choose from, the price can start to go up with them.

A car that gets good gas mileage that drives good and is not so slow that you risk an accident just driving it. Comfortable, unique, great maintenance and warranty programs. Mini is the only car that gets good gas mileage that is worth owning. It is actually fun to drive unlike most gas savers.

Awesome exhiratating car!!!

by Kramster from Newcastle, CA (8/02/08)
Pros:Great looking car that rides on rails!!!
Cons:Need to take to dealer to re-fit mis-aligned rear doors. Quality Control???

This will be the first full week we have had the ClumanS. Premium and Comfort Packages. Should have got the electric control seats, but there agan, something else to go wrong. Lever for the seat incline is a bit touchy to find, but it has only been two days since we have had it.
Drove up some windy roads last night and therr appears to be a substantial difference between standard and sport modes, especially with shifting.
Paddle shifting is ok unless you are turning, then it is cumbersome. Seems like the speed shift on shift lever shoul either be reversed or made to shft sis-to-side rather than up and back. Guess I am used to a Charger SRT8.

part II, Clubman S review

by Suzanne Mc. from North Babylon, NY (7/15/08)

The other complaint is the sound system. The clubman six speaker hi-fi is the pits. The exterior is charcoal gray with a black roof (totally looks like a hearse, especially with double doors) custom red/black interior and every conceivable option. I am so annoyed with this car that the best I could hope for is someone to rear-end me and total out this car so I can get something else. I so want back my old mini...

I Want Back My Old Mini Cooper...

by Suzanne Mc. from North Babylon, NY (7/15/08)
Pros:Better built seats than my 05 mini cooper, rides nice. S upgrade more pep!
Cons:air conditioning, sound system, wind whistle, rattles like mad

Have for 3 weeks. Getting around 30-31 mpg in NYC traffic/highway. Two major complaints with this car; The air conditioner is inadequate to cool it down. I've had it to dealer twice and they have informed me that this is as good as it gets. I have it down on "low" (

Most fun on 4 wheels

by Big Jim Swade from Idaho (7/03/08)
Pros:Great fuel economy, handles very well and is fun to drive.
Cons:Expensive options, so skip most of them.

I've had my Clubman S for a week now and have no complaints. The only options if got with mine were the 17" wheels/as tires, HiFi Sound, Rear fog light, Metallic paint and cruise control. Cost $26,200 and has everything one needs. The leatherette fools most people thinking it is leather, it looks and feels that good. The ride is very firm, but has no rattles and handles like it is on rails. I can't think anyone would ever need the Sport Suspension option ($500) so be sure to skip that one. Got 37.1 mpg on the first tank and looks like it might improve on the second. Pulls well in any gear from 1,000 rpm, even in 6th. Everybody that sees the car really likes it and I think it looks better than the standard sized Mini.

CLUBMAN works for family of four!

by Christian from Tucson, AZ (7/02/08)
Pros:Great MPG, fun to drive, cool to look at!
Cons:Cup holders obscure instrument controls, confusing interface with computer.

I used these reviews to help me make my decision, so I thought I should give back to the community as well.

I have had my MINI COOPER CLUBMAN for two weeks. I purchased the BASE MODEL, with the SUNROOF, integrated Ipod control, Bluetooth, etc.

First the good: I am averaging 30mph in the city, and I'm not the most conservative driver. I am 6' 2" and fit very comfortably, I have a 7yo son and a 5yo daughter and our family of four can ride very comfortably across town, etc (not saying I would want to go on a long road trip with the whole family!). It is a very fun car to drive, and very solid on the inside and outside (not a rattle to be heard).

The annoying issues (not deal breakers obviously): Cupholders are snug against the front control panel, and with a cup bigger than a Dixie cup they obscure the controls for the window and doorlocks, and I tend to bump a cup with the manual shifter.

The stereo has decent sound, though not necessarily the best for the increased price of that package.

The bluetooth is not compatible with my phone--the dealer said he had never had a problem before, but when I checked the forums online several people have had this issue (my phone is the SAMSUNG i760).

The onboard computer is accessed through the turn-signal toggle, and it is frustrating/confusing to navigate. The control system for the stereo/ipod/bluetooth system is similarly cluttered and difficult (if not impossible) to use intuitively. I think MINI realizes this as they have a special manual for the radio controls only.

Overall, the fun of driving WAY outweighs any minor negatives, and once you have the computer set-up to your preferences you don't have to deal with it anymore. For the money, I think I really got a good value and would definitely recommend the car to others!

Happy motoring!

Great Car, not just for Work

by Bill from Richmond, VA (6/16/08)
Pros:Great fuel econ, fun to drive
Cons:acceleration not great in base w/o Sport mode on

Last two weekends, the clubman got a workout...Went camping with my two boys. Three backpacks, two coolers and still room for a 14 y.o, an 11 year old and me. Everyone was just shocked.

This past weekend, we took the clubman for an overnight trip to in-laws about 150 miles away. Four people and several bags...all fit. No one complained of being cramped in the car (which we weren't!). Love the car. Towards the end of the return trip from the inlaws, I was getting tired of sitting in the driver's seat but overall a great experience. And 40 mpg to boot!

I've had the car for 6 weeks and just love it (as others do to from the frequent stares)

What a great, fun car!

by JanGeneG from Centennial, CO (6/10/08)
Pros:Excellent fuel economy, performance is great, seats very comfortable, great to park, owned 5 years.
Cons:Knowns, small trunk, rides like a go-cart

Have taken on cross country trips and overall, best performing, comfortable, and fuel efficient vehicle we've owned. It gets a lot of smiles too.

awesome

by mark from alpharetta ga (5/23/08)
Pros:great fuel economy
Cons:location of seat recline

have had this car for a week now. bought it as a second car. i have a f350 deisel that has sat in the driveway ever since the purchase...thought i would keep the truck, but after driving the clubman for a week, i am now looking to sell the pickup....by the way, i am 6'4", 235, and have more than enough room, as a matter of fact, if i push the seats all the way back, its an uncomfortable reach to the clutch....also, 2 car seats in the back is no sweat

beware, if you test drive one, you'll end up buying it
