- Purchased new and have never been back to the dealer for any warranty work, I have the 4 cylinder.
- the blind spot problem is overtated. no problem for me on the road
I live in Colorado, I never see other sporty cars out in a snow storm. Just the eclipse. Gets around fine with front wheel drive.Everything works great. Everything I need and nothing I don't. Controls are easy and intuitive. Nothing is a mystery. Look at the gs four cylinder for ease of operation, high mpg, Had the tires rotated at 5000 miles but none showed any difference in wear. Again, I have never been back to the dealer for any kind of warranty work. Can't say that about any other new cars that I have purchased, which is about 10 cars...read morehide

- Believe it or not, you love it now, but it gets better!!!
- Needs Dual exhaust (coming for 2009), breaks occasionally squeek, cheapish plastic interior & mirror
I've had my purrrrrfect convertible for over 16000 miles now and guess what...my mileage has improved from 22 to almost 30 MPG HWY. I recently changed my OEM air filter and saw an up-tick in mileage. I've had practically no problems with this little beauty. I've had some break squeeking, but I've heard that is a common issue with sportier cars with the open style breaks which are exposed to the weather. The stereo still rocks, the top still operates smoothly and leak-free, and I still get the compliments from passers-by...Nice Car! Luckily, I still don't see too many on the road, but the word is catching on and I do see many more than just a year ago. My only gripe is that the resale value of Mitsubishi cars don't hold up well....totally unfair! I think I'll be buying that 2009 model with the dual exhaust in 2010 at a great deal! :)...read morehide

- Nice exotic design, hugs the road nicely, a good balance of practicality and fun
- Easily scratched plastic surfaces, kinda bland looking without body kit
More than a year after I bought this car, I still love it. I get compliments on its head-turning appearance constantly. I can take it through automatic car washes and the roof still doesn't leak. It got me through last winter with little trouble; the front-wheel drive handles snow and ice just fine. When I made the mistake of accidentally putting a tank-full of E85 in it, the engine light came on but it still managed to get through it with little trouble (I'll never ever do that again though. So stupid!). Thank God for that tough little MIVEC engine! The quick and easy top with a nice glass back window is of very good quality, and has not given me any trouble to date. It's also the only really sporty car on the market that takes regular gas with a decent trunk and a useable back seat. Speaking from experience, you can pack enough stuff in it for a two week vacation for two people and still have room to spare.
My only complaints:
The breaks do squeak when the weather's bad, but with the rotors exposed to the elements, it's to be expected. Also, at first I thought it didn't come with audio controls on the steering wheel. Imagine my suprise a year later when I discovered them on the BACKSIDE of the steering wheel completely out of sight. This isn't a very intuitive design, in my opinion. The plastic surfaces do indeed scratch easily, so watch your shoes and belts getting in and out....read morehide

- Since I bought this car, it is a joy to drive again
- Lower than expected gas mileage, blind spot with top up
I knew the blind spot would be an issue but is easily overcome with safe driving. A blast to drive. I use to hate driving but no more. The women love it!!!!!

- great on gas, very comfortable, more than I expected
- have not had any problems or comaplaints so far in 3 months of owning this awesome car!
I have had many sporty type cars over the year, all foreign ,and this car ranks right up there with my 1997 z3 roadster! I love that it has a backseat so I have somewhere to put my purse etc when I have a passenger in the car. The car is beautiful, sporty, comfortable and the auto top makes it so eay when you get caught in the rain( 3 times now!) but it was worth it! I have my top down 99% of the time I am in the car. I love it!!!...read morehide

- Lots of get up and go. I got the orange one and love it. Fun to drive
- Blind spot with the roof up but with it down it is great.
I have had mine up to 120mph and it was not trouble what so ever. I love the stereo system. I used to didn't like loud music but with this car I love it.

- Sleek Looks, High-End Stock Stereo, Peppy 4-Cyl, Pushbutton-Easy-Fast Drop-Top
- Lower than expected gas mileage, cheapish rear-view mirror & lower-end tires, plastic scratches easy
As mentioned so many times by other reviewers, this convertible is the best on the road for under $30K. I don't think you see many on the road since people think it looks like a $50K+ car and Mitsubishi has a general reputation of questionable quaility. With the 60,000 and 5-year bumper-to-bumper warranty and it's BMW like build, there is no longer a question about quality...it's in there! My only suggestion is to upgrade the tires as they don't hold very well to wet roads. Buy one and make your neighbors think you've won the lottery....read morehide

- THE RADIO SYSTEM IS GREAT! THE PERFORMANCE IS WONDERFUL/LIGHTED MIRRORS/GOOD FUEL ECONOMY CAR/STYLE
- RIDE IS A LITTLE ROUGH/BACK SEATING
OVERRALL THIS IS A GREAT CAR, THE LOOKS YOU GET WHEN DRIVING, PEOPLE SOMETIMES WONDER WHAT KIND OF CAR IS THAT AND THE OTHERS JUST ASK. JUST TEST DRIVE THE VEHICLE AND YOU WILL GET A LOT OF HEADS TURNING AT A GREAT PERFORMANCE CAR. I HOPE YOU BUY ONE. GOOD LUCK.

- Awesome styling, interior comfort, power when I want it
- Blind spot is challenging
I bought my Spyder the day they hit the showroom floor in Dallas and haven't regreted it. I've put 17K, including 2.5K drive to Oregon, with no problems. It handles as good in the Oregon mountains as in the midst of the Dallas rush hour. And yes, I love the looks I get!

- 2007 drives like a heavier car and has plenty of zip with the auto and 4 cyl
- Rear view is not great but it's a Conv. Back seat, but; this is no family car
Bought the 2007 for a third car. I bought the car based on the reliability of the 96 Spyder my wife has. Compared to the 96 the 2007 has a much better ride, seems to ride like a heavier and wider car and the car is well designed. I would not recommend this car for a family unless you have a small child. The convertible top is easy to operate and it is like no other for the money. In 20 seconds or less the top is down and fully enclosed. The stereo/CD is excellent. It will pump out some serious sounds.
The cons are the rear view, the back seat for those needing more then two seats, and; I feel the leather package should be more plush.
Lastly, you should be able to get a good deal on this car if you shop around. The owners manual says the car uses regular unleaded 87 octane. I have not used regular. For 25K or so this car is a great buy....read morehide
