- Acceleration, sound system is amazing, styling, comfortable seats and everything.
- There is nothing bad at all.
I had the choice of buying a 2000 gs and financing an '05 gs. I bought and recomend the 2000 gs because it has 7 more horsepower than the '05. I just bought my eclipse last week. It is the perfect first car for a teenager. Wish I had the money for the GT model, though. It is my first car and is a good value. I can't wait for the 2006 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT to be available this summer....read morehide

- look, reliability, fuel economy
- brakes, back seats, hard to see over left shoulder, small problems along the way.
I bought the 2000 GS model 2 weeks after the new model came out in 1999. For the first year, I thought I bought a big piece of junk. I had paint chipping problems, the radiator leaked, the right window would get stuck, the left window sprayer would barely spray cleaner onto the window all within the 1st year. My 1995 model eclipse had its own set of dumb problems as well.
Now that I've had the 2000 model for over 5 years, I think I actually got a good deal. I've never broken down - keep in mind I do get regular maintenance on the car and I did have my battery proactively changed. It also doesn't break the bank to get the car maintenanced at the dealership. My husband has a Honda and his regular maintenance fees are always over 150 what mine are for the eclipse.
Due to the hatchback feature, you can suprisingly fit large items in the car and it gets great gas milegae. The turning radius is great, the size is perfect for parking lots, it gets great gas mileage, and the actual seats are rather comfortable (I drove the car up the east coast and was never uncomfortable - I'm also not a large sized person). The brakes, however, could be improved
If you really want 2 people to sit in the back seat, then this car isn't for you - it can't be safe. If you want the back seats to be there in case you ever have to transport 2 people in the back, then this car is for you. If you want to have fun and like a great looking car with suprising functionality, then I would recommend the eclipse....read morehide
