2008 Mitsubishi Eclipse User Reviews
- $9,263 - $13,102
- Excellent fuel economy, stylish, comfortable seating, easy to use interior features
- Rides very low, but you get used to it
Purchased As Used
I traded in my Chevy Cobalt for this, and it may have been the best thing I've ever done. It looks and feels like a sports car which is great. It handles supremely well, and I get about 30/35 mpg which is amazing since its a more powerful car than my cobalt and I got less than 25 mpg with that. The interior controls are very easy to use and the seats are super comfortable. I got the sun and sound package with this car (sunroof and audio system) which I would highly recommend. Great acceleration too, you can seriously go about 80 mph and think ur goin about 65. Awesome car!...read morehide

- Options for the price, Warrantry, Looks, Interior Quality
- Wide turning radius, needs premium gas, front wheel drive layout, paint scratches easily
I have had my eclipse for about a year now and have to say that i am happy with my decision (although if i bought the car again i would buy the Spyder Model). I purchsed the Eclipse after driving several other cars including the Honda Accord v6 Coupe, and the Nissan Altima v6 Coupe.
Car has a good mix of options for the price and you cant go wrong with Mitsu's 10 year warrantry. Its fast and a head turner, make sure you get the factory Aero Kit it makes the car look more awsome! The 650 watt Fosgate system with the Sub is a must have for this car. Only compaint about that is the display only shows channel number and no the song details. THERE IS AN IPOD AUX IPOD HOOKUP FOR THE RF SYSTEM, its about $15 and is easy to install ask your dealer about it or search the web for it.
My biggest problem with the Eclipse GT is that the car has alot of the weight upfront and is prone to Torque steer, be careful in the winter months....read morehide

- Great looks, comfortable seating, nice and easy controls, terrific handling.
- Paint scratches easy, small blind spots.
Traded in my 2004 Chevy Cavalier for this Eclipse. Absolutely love this car! Adequate acceleration, and terrific handling. At high speeds, she has a lot more to give than the Cavalier. (Sorry
Chevy, no loyalty to the Cobalt here...) The Eclipse has a sexy, sleek look that has many saying "wow" what a great looking car!
This car is not rated great by the "experts", but seemingly loved by all that own one. This played a great part in my choosing the Eclipse as my next vehicle. Sort of like movie reviews....I always seem to like the ones the reviewers don't. Apparently, alot of other folks think like me....read morehide

- GREAT fuel economy(better than listed MPG), Peppy for I-4, great handling for accident prevention
- Paint scratches too easily, vision out the rear and when changing lanes is obscured by small windows
This car truly is worth the buy. The fuel economy (I get 30mpg city/33hwy with MT) is amazing, especially since the 4-cyl is STILL peppy enough for my lead foot.
It handles very well (I live in Wy where the snow and ice make even the best drivers get in accidents).
In fact, I was doing 80mph on the hwy and ran over an ENTIRE semi-tire in the road (hub and ALL) and when I ran it over only the driver's side corner of my bumper came off. In all honesty, going that FAST in that SMALL of a car over something that BIG: should have flipped the car or caused a lot more damage. The alignment and everything to do with the undercarriage is fine. I was VERY surprised my car handled so well. I give her 5 stars for accident handling!!! Especially when it's too dark out to notice a tire that blends in with the road; keep in mind you're safe with an Eclipse [or a truck that would be tall enough to just drive over it] but Eclipses are less expensive :) and better on fuel-economy.
I put a lot of faith into my little Eclipse! My car is amazing, I don't ever want to trade her in, I plan on keeping her even when I'm done paying her off!!!...read morehide

- "Great gas mlg, great wrnty, spacious front seats&trunk, great stock stereo sys, beautiful & fast!
- There r blind spots on the left&right rear but if you're a good driver, great view from side mirrors!
This car is the best car I think I have ever driven! I love the way it will take the curves and the stylish look of the car itself. I drive 40 miles to work everyday in the West Va. mountains and I fill up for gas every week and a half, basically every 9 days. The slap shft is a nice touch to the car as well as the booming stereo system! The front seats have so much room in them even though the back seats dont as most sports cars. And the truck is bigger than most cars for example it is bigger than a Cavaliers trunk I know for a fact from experience. I knew the first time I saw mine... I had to have it!...read morehide

- Looks Great, Economic, Lots of Zip, Fun to Drive
- Blind Spot, Street Noise, Nothing Horrible
I absolutely love my 2008 Mitsubishi Eclipse. I bought it in Sunset Pearlescent, which looks beautiful. The back seat is not really roomy, but with a sports car, that is to be expected. You do have to be very careful of the blind spot, and you can hear a bit of street noise, but everything else about the car completely makes up for those two little issues. It is very zippy, takes corners great, has great pickup when you need it, and is overall the most fun car I have ever driven. I get a lot of compliments on the car. The standard stereo package is very nice too. I am very happy I bought this car. My only negative statement is about Mitsubishi credit. I haven't had to send a check in the mail for years until I bought my Mitsubishi. I qualified for 0% financing, so it didn't make sense for me to go somewhere else for financing, but it is a huge inconvenience to go back to the days where you have to write a check for a car payment....read morehide

- Just look at it! Listen to it.
- Rear blind spot, forward view, turning circle
After driving Euro cars for years, I've chosen to go Japanese (well, "somewhat" Japanese). I got an 08 Lancer last year but I figured I have no need for for doors so I traded that for an 08 Eclipse SE 4-banger. With the rebates I got--heck, not bad at all. Yah, somewhat slow from zero, but then I'll choose a better mpg and regular unleaded over the v6 version. When at speed, it's pretty good.I got the auto tranny. If you want more responsiveness, switch to sportronic mode--you'll find enough grunt in 3rd gear.
It's sporty enough but definitely not a sports car, but I ain't complaining. Yah, there's some cons here and there, but then again, had they been a big deal for me, then I wouldn't have gotten this car.
If you can find an SE--go for it as the options it has are worth every penny. Next agenda: tint, drop at least an inch, a cold air intake, and a front tower brace--it's perfect.
The SE in black on black looks great and the exhaust note is just right. I live in an area where European cars are a plenty...that only makes my Eclipse stand out a lot more. I like that....read morehide

- It takes curves well and is a nice looking car
- Blind spot as anyone knows who owns one
I read reviews about the handling of this car and get confused I guess they individuals do not know how to drive a car? I take curves at 60 at 70 miles an hr and have no problem. Aftar all, a sports car is designed for that. People talk about the back seat and no space, it at least has a back seat and have had people back there. Come one poeple, it'a a psorts car no vette or Honda's spots car has a back seat at all. And lets face facts, for the warrant and the car, you can not beat the price!
I am proberly one of the first to own this car, I bought it in Sept of 2006 and is a 2007 GS Coupe with the Burgundy color not red!
And get constant compliments on it....read morehide

- Eye-catching, sporty, drivers car, good price.
- Mileage could be better, but it's a sports car.
This is a Drivers car and not a car to just drive. The options are plenty depending on your wallet size. This is a car to drive you and your spouse/date so no need to worry about the small back seats. Good handling with decent power (I have the 4 cylinder). I love this car. Test drive it and learn that you can fall in love again....read morehide

- Looks good, sporty, good MPG 20 city/27 highway, tight handling, excellent warranty.
I have been an Eclipse owner for the past 10 years and its been an improvement in every generation of this model. The Eclipse has given the owners what they clamor for that is; style, performance, handling, ride, interior amenities and most of all its excellent 10 years/100,000 mile power train warranty. Who nowadays will care more to their customers than Mitsubishi!...read morehide
