I went from a SUV to a car looking for better gas mileage. This car is everything I was looking for. The backseat gives the kids plenty of leg room for traveling. The car handles very well on the road.

I have been driving the 2007 version for four years now. Still sounds as if it's just out of the assembly plant. I am sure the 2012 model will not disappoint.

I recently bought this car brand new from San Bernardino Subaru & Mitsubishi. I was able to trade in a car I owed $7,000 on and end up paying only $24,000 for this one. The SE version has 18" Rims, Backup Camera and GPS but those things aren't worth the $4000 price increase so the ES is really the way to go if you want to save money. You can get decent rims for less than $800 and if you have a smart phone then GPS is not a big deal.
For the money this is a great car. I got the Kalapana black version with black interior and for a value sedan it looks really nice, I've even gotten comments on the faux wood trim.
The fuel economy is average, I live 7 miles from work and take side streets to and from - I average 21 MPG. If I take a trip on the freeway I get up to 30 MPG.
The power is a mixed bag. Sports mode opens up a lot of possibilities; if you're a single driver on a cool day then you can drive like a maniac if you want and there's decent pick up, acceleration and handling. Crank up the AC, add a few people to the car or try to drive on one of those molten 105° desert days and the car loses all feeling of acceleration - the only way to get it back is stay in 1st gear and crank it past 5000 RPM.
The 2012 Galant is perfect for a small family or a single person who wants a reasonably priced sedan that looks nice and can fit 5 people relatively easy. It's a very practical car and with the way Mitsubishi Motors is faultering, it will probably be the cheapest mid-sized sedan you can find.
Should you buy it? Only if you can't get a Nissan Altima, Toyota Camry or VW Jetta TDi. All of those cars have better features, better fuel economy and slightly updated looks. They very similar spec-wise but the Camry, Altima and Jetta are a cut above the Galant in most respects.
I got this car because I was able to get a great deal on it despite having poor credit. I don't regret my purchase, the 10-year/100,000 mile warranty was a great option and it's a solid car with decent performance and great comfort. If you can afford them, there are better options, but this is a solid choice for the price....read morehide4 out of 4 people found this review helpful.

Well I am once again seeing that you cant believe everything you hear/read from the `experts`. This Galant has been a pleasant surprise so far. I got the SE trim, paid $18,299, list was $25,002. The car is quiet, comfy, spacious, handles well and has plenty of infotainment/built in for instance, GPS/Sirius radio/trip computer/Rockford Fosgate 650 watt sound system...The 4 speed auto trans is more than adequate, as is the 160 hp engine....nice combo of thrifty/adequate power. The experts say this car hasnt been updated lately...but theres an old motto `if it aint broke dont fix it` This car will not be mistaken for a boring accord/altima cookie cutter invisible car...it has style. The 18 inch alloys set it off beautifully. Mine has a power sunroof with sunshade. I realize that this car is a relatively unknown model to most people (myself included until recently) but the 2.4 liter has an excellent reputation for trouble-free motoring, there is a generous $3500 rebate and to me the car just feels right, well sorted, all the bugs worked out etc. Id recommend a test drive, you might be as pleasantly surprised as I was, + the 5 year 60,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty is a nice bonus....read morehide

- Pros
- Got me sold in the actual rented car I used for my week trip in CA.
- Cons
- Only con is the steering should be telescopic to extend my arm more.

I rented a car from Advantage in San Jose, CA for a week last May 2-9 and was suggested I get the Mitsubishi Galant which is considered a standard car for the price of a compact. I took the car for a 350 mile trip and was amazed how the Galant handled in curvy roads, its powerful brakes that needed just a touch to slow or stop, its frugal 2.4L engine that made 31 miles to a gallon, with gas @ $4.30/gal in CA, its quick acceleration, the ride was comfortable with bumpy roads in San Francisco, spacious interior with center armrest with cupholders for my sons, nice styling from the rear, front and profile, remote for the doors, alarm and trunk in the key and now that I tested the Mitsubishi Galant, I am trading my 2007 Camry for this car because it is even better than the top selling Jap car....read morehide

- 94 years of carmaking experience in Japan with 10 years/100,000 miles warranty! Great for us!!
- Cons
- No other Japanese, Korean or American vehicles have 10 year/100,000 mile warranty!!!

It just speaks volumes for the Mitsubishi cars & SUV's that are price right, 94 years of carmaking experience as the oldest car builder in Japan, 10 years/100,000 miles warranty, nicely shaped design, powerful choice of engines and transmission, comfortable ride, loads of amenities or options, great reliability and durability, so why choose another brand which has so many recalls and cheaply made cars or SUVs.?
Tried out the Mitsubishi vehicle and I was immediately exhilarated by the driving performance it gives, the astonishing comfort, aesthetic looks, excellent fuel consumption for a performance sports car, reasonable price and unbelievable warranty!
I love the Mitsubishi lines and performance, not forgetting the affordable price and warranty compared with others in its class or category. The athletic manufacturing robots playing to assemble the Mitsubishi car & needs to be back in the commercial....read morehide2 out of 4 people found this review helpful.

Only needs to advertise more to get more people to recognise its worth, including its test proving rally from Dakar and World championship to the no recalls which translate to quality workmanship and critical supplier selection....read morehide1 out of 4 people found this review helpful.
