- Handling is fantastic in all weather, comfortable seats, head turner, fast
- Rears seats do not fold down to increase trunk space, wish it had a 6th gear
Purchased As New
I purchased this car brand new 3 years ago and I still love the car 3 years later. This car is a rare sight no matter where I am driving. I was initially torn between either this, a STI, or a 3 series. I am very happy with my choice. After 3 years of ownership I only have the following requests:
-Fold down rear seats (trunk space is questionable)
-A 6th gear
-Better fuel economy. The fuel consumption on this vehicle isn't terrible, but isn't great either. But then again if I wanted a Prius like mileage, I would have purchased one....read morehide

- Beats BMW & Mercedes, super fast, super fun to drive!
- Could get better fuel economy but not bad for car this fast.

If you are looking for an awesome car at a great price than get an Evo! The Evo is faster and way cooler than the regular BMW 3 series or regular Mercedes C-Class and less expensive as well. Plus unlike those cars that you see all the time and don't even take a second glance at, the EVO is really unique and looks like a real race car. People will ask is that the car they used in the Fast and the Furious and do you race? Personalize and make it even more cool. Great for anyone who really likes to drive....read morehide

i've had my Evo x for 10 months now, i waited 3 years since i've seen the prototype pics on-line and nothing has changed, i feel the same as the first day i purchased this vehicle and still stare at it as if didn't own one. very few vehicles can give a driver the confidence to take turns at over 100 mph and needless to say it has keept me out of trouble eveyr time. Now on the bad side, i dont think i should be putting this in a review for the vehicle, but the service you get from MMC for it is a different story. I rather get my teeth pulled!!...read morehide

- great overall feedback, confidence inspiring, precise steering, track ready
- mediocre interior, poor quality paint, noisy cruising speeds, eats tires & pads fast
I use this car as the occasional daily (when my beater is in the shop). I also do some autocross and track days. i came from a 06 Subaru Sti, which was a somewhat similar car. I got it with the SSS package with keyless entry fob, HID's, upgraded 600w stereo, gargantum rear wing spoiler (a must for the evo, imho). So far I've put 10k miles on my 08 GSR.
Where this car shines is feedback. It comes very well from the steering, suspension, braking, grip, rotation (although might take time getting used to, because it works unexpectedly well). The feedback makes the car very entertaining, and it inspires confidence unlike any other car I've driven. The car communicates it's limits to you very well, and does so forgivingly when it does. The X really shines at the track, and I highly recommend any new evo owner to at least autocross the car, in order to get to know it better.
The slightly heavier, but sharp & precise steering is where this car shines the most. Makes track duty a lot easier, and your daily commute much more fun.
Suspension is a good compromise between being stiff enough to minimizing body roll in most situations, yet being soft enough to absorb most bumps in the street without upsetting anything. Watch out for road debris and speed bumps, as the ride hieght is a bit low.
Brakes communicate, & perform well. They are also consistent. On hpde events, doing 20-30 min runs, the braking feedback and performance did not seem to deteriorate at all.
Grip is excellent. Don't forget to turn off the ASC/traction control track events, as it is extremely instrusive, & somewhat unpredicatable. Car is also very forgivable. I have yet to spin it despite multiple errors that would have cost me on my prior 92 miata. Once even had a fender bender nudge at approx 80mpg, and the car composed balance very well.
Rotation is superb. It's extremely easy to do this, with minimal counter streer. You just have to trust the car, and it will take care of you.
I am not too fond of the shifter. It feels a bit too notchy, and at times I had trouble shifting 2nd to 3rd. Might be just me, but I've never had this issue with any other car.
Clutch is forgiving, but not the most responsive.
For street driving, you have to figure this car was probably not built for total comfort and practicality. The overall feedback makes this fun car to drive, even on an otherwise ho-hum commute, but it doesn't make it uncomfortable either....read morehide

- car design, steering/break/acceleration response, sits 3 at back (5 person cap)
- blind spot A pillar(driver side)
The car design looks stunning, esp the front (Shark like)The side and back looks like lexus. The price of the car comparing to other cars with this speed is lower and sits 5 persons incl. driver. The trunk is small, inside materials looks low grade, improved electronic and components from previous models. Drive comfort is good, drives to work 3x weekly w/50mile drive, front seat are bucket (recaro) good side support for corners, sits low for gravity. For Steering wheel, good response but only height adjustment. The car feels solid as if it's hugging the road esp when on corners. Minimal body roll, strong body. Seven air bags, with side curtain. The blind spot on the driver side" A pillar" driver-side mirror, you have sometimes to lean forward to see the center island if your turning from a stop or to see if there are pedestrians crossing the road. The engine response is great when you step on the gas, you can feel the power above 3000 rpm. There is not much engine noise when cruising 60mile/hr, the rpm sits around 2800. Had average 19-21 miles/gal, with speed not very aggresive, just following the traffic flow. With cars that prices are more than evo's and speeding the roads, are more surprise that are being overtaken by a small car, they roll down their windows and give me thumbs up,or just smile knowing they have been beaten by a small fast car. Now, I am enjoying every minute I drive and my wife enjoys sitting on the front seat, with windows haftway down....read morehide

- minimal body roll on corners, speed 0-60 (stock), appearance/looks
- seat/steering adjustment, small compartment
Had about 3000 miles and drive to work with it. Enjoyed every minute. The appearance of the car is'nt bad at all. Turbo lag is minimal, feel the power at 3000 RPM.Can't explain much of the speed for its FAST. It makes one driver feel like a pro when manuevering corners. Yaw control works. Can't wait for winter to drive it in snow. It's tempting to go 100 MPH esp. overtaking car twice the price and trying to catch up and you get the looks that they have been beaten by a small car. Inside the car, some material looks cheap but its a compromise mitsubishi has done and upgrade to the electonics and mechanics of the car. It has a small compartment and not ready for long family get-away....read morehide

- Great suspension and power, handles like a dream, worth all the money
- Takes some time getting use to Active Yaw Control
I bought this car and within one night, put on 150 miles and let me tell you, I enjoyed every minute of it. This car can be driven daily, it is smooth and yet, powerful enough so whenever you feel like giving it that extra boost, you can!
The handling is fantastic, this thing corners really well. The AYC kicks in when you're doing EXTREME twists and turns and like what Edmunds Inside Line said, it takes getting use to because your first instinct is to slam on your brakes and slow down. I made the mistake of slamming my brakes twice and after I got use to it, I just kept the throttle pined and AYC did the job for me (^_^).
Overall, this car with the Sight, Sound, Spoiler package is a steal! I paid straight invoice and let me tell you, I don't regret it at all. I am going from a 2006 Scion tC and this car not only exceeds my expectations, but has set a new standard for automobile with me!...read morehide

- The EVO is quicker than the BMW and owns the skidpad against the 335xi!
- Car better priced than the BMW
The Mitsubishi Lancer EVO 10 is capable of dethroning more than just its traditional opponent due to supercar-like speed and grip. The corner-noshing EVO 10 (X) is good enough to challenge BMW's pricey 3 series. The $41,600 335xi features all-wheel-drive system in addition to the habit forming turbocharged inline-six and makes for an interesting comparison.
The $33,600 EVO is standard with all-wheel-drive, 295 Horsepower and 300 pound-feet of torque, but it's being generated with two less cylinders and a full liter less displacement, compared with the BMW 335xi's 300 horsepower and 300 pound-feet of torque, generated from 3.0 liters of displacement.
Premium lightweight Enkei wheels (BBSs come on the upper level MR trim) and Brembo brakes, expensive for both companies and enthusiasts, are part of the deal with the EVO. What does BMW's extra $10,000 get you? Furtive looks from marriage commuters and middle fingers from Prius drivers, aside from buying the name. I'm going to pretend that the EVO's interior is even close to the 3 series, although the EVO si marginally larger and quieter than the previous generation EVO.
The EVO now features on demand navigation and bluetooth connectivity. Mitsubishi spent the right money on the interior bits that amtter for this most focused machine: excellent, supportive Recaro seats.
As a rear-wheel-drive car, the BMW is a barn stormer with a sub-five-second 0-60, but the EVO is quicker. The BMW works the skidpad; the EVO 10 owns it, with a supercar-like 0.97 g of grip....read morehide

- Evo is on top on the performance race and no other car can beat it!
- If there was, they surely isn't in their league.
The Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X is better than the rest of the pretenders in performance race and it just shows in the power, improvements Mitsubishi has done with the twin clutch that before had some resentment on it and the styling has improved quite a bit which has not followed any of the other brands direction, but developed their own identity. Just looking forward on Mitsubishi's next development, which surely will make this car far better!...read morehide
