- Pros
- An all around excellent deal
- Cons
- Finish scratches easily
Purchased As New
I was forced to buy a new car when my 1996 Nissan 200SX SER was totaled. I thought I would never love a car as much as my 200SX but my Lancer ES Sport has proven me wrong! I compared and test drove lots of other cars (Mazda3 & 6, Chevy Cobalt, Ford Mustang etc.) but the Lancer just couldn't be beat when it came to price, styling and performance. It handles like a sports car but rides like a luxury car (except for the cabin noise). I don't regret adding the hands free bluetooth and few other little extras. So far the only minor issue I have is the delicate clear coat finish that seems to scratch easily. All in all I love my new Mitsubishi and hope it lasts as long as my last car did....read morehide

- Pros
- Great look, sharp handling, good interior room
- Cons
- Road/engine noise at high speed
Purchased As New
Lancer is my very first car and I have no regret getting it.
I've had many people checking me n my car while stopping at traffic light and some kids shout out "nice car" when I go to the zoo.
The car performs just as aggressively as it looks, handling is excellent that you want to turn at higher speed. Great interior space compared to other econobox. Overall I just really enjoy driving because I own a Lancer.
Only thing I don't like would be the road and engine noise once you reach at high speed on freeway (120km+). Noise gets pretty loud that normal conversation in the car become almost inaudible. I guess this is common among all compact cars under 25 grand....read morehide80 out of 82 people found this review helpful.

- Pros
- Great look, very good gas mileage, lots of fun
- Cons
- I couldn't afford an Evo
Purchased As New
I can honestly say without a doubt this has been one of the best choices I've ever made. I had to get a new a car because my '99 Cavalier was on it's last legs due to a wreck and I needed a new car. I've been a fan of Mitsubishi since they came out with the Eclipse, which is what I as after. I pulled up on the lot and saw the new Lancers and fell in love with them immediately, especially after test driving it. Anyone that I've let drive my car has done the same, they are extremely responsive and very reliable. I love the sun and sound package as well as all the other add ons that came with it. The one thing that really stood out was the color of the car which I hear that comment more than anything else. I've also taken my car on two long road trips and never had one problem with going and coming back. So I would recommend this car to anyone who was interested in a great car....read morehide

- Pros
- Not many people have this car so you definately stand out from the crowd.
- Cons
- Fabric gets dirty easily if you have the black interior.

When deciding on buying a new car, I was torn between a Toypta Corolla S and the Mitsubishi Lancer ES Sport. They were very similar; both had spoilers, reliable good companies, ground effects on them, fog lights and a similar shape to the exterior. I was torn until I looked inside the Lancer and loved how much more expensive it looked and how the car had the Rockford Fosgate Sound system and definately seemed way more sporty than the Corolla S. Hands down the Lancer ES Sport won. I haven't had any problems with the car so far and I absolutely LOVE my Lancer ES Sport!!! You won't be disapointed by this car....read morehide

- Pros
- Good Acceleration, Roomy, Excellent Radio (Sun&Sound), Nice Appearance
- Cons
- Wheels could be bigger but as Joanne Rivers puts it, "Who Cares!"
Purchased As New
I bought this vehicle because my 01 VW Jetta was on it's last limb. Countless problems with that car led me to hate it but still love it (It was a VR6). Barely made it to the dealer. I knew I wanted an import vehicle, but did not like the corolla as much, and the Civic/Accord are great but too expensive.
The ES-Sport is a great ride! If you don't want to shell out for a GTS, but don't like the looks of a base ES, then go ES-Sport! Rockford Fosgate radio is very good. It's not a "build and install a monster system on your own" good, but better than most stock radio systems and has lots of power. Seats are comfortable, plenty of places to store stuff. Plenty of standard equipment.
The only reason I can't give this 5 stars on appearance is because the wheels on the ES-Sport are the same as the ES (some aftermarket wheels will soon change that!). Still has aggresive styling! Comfort is 5 stars, plenty of room for everyone. Performance is very good. It's not a V8 supercharged beast, but will get to speed very well for a 4 cylinder. Will definitely save on gas!. Value is good, but Mitsubishi's resale decline quicker than Toyota's or Honda's, but not as bad as American cars. I expect reliability to be very good for this car and any needed repairs to be much cheaper than the VW Jetta I had!
I am definitely happy with the purchase and will recommend anyone to get one!...read morehide131 out of 131 people found this review helpful.

- Pros
- HANDLING!, BODY STYLE, FUEL ECONOMY, FUN TO DRIVE, KEYLESS START
- Cons
- ONLY THING IS MY REMOTE GETS WACKY AT TIMES
Well since i first laid eyes on the car I fell in love. I got the Silver Lancer ES Sport. The trim is good for the price. You get the body kit, sunroof and stereo all for a decent price. Not to mention the Fuel Economy. The best thing about this car though is the aggressive look it has.. its beautiful, When its nice and clean i cant stop looking at it. Tinted the windows and maybe some rims later down the line. I have not seen to many either.
The look takes many qualities, i see Lexus inspired and Mercedes inspired lines and looks with a lil Honda Civic and of course the classic Mitsubishi. I really trust mistsubishi, we have had them in the family since the early 90's and they are still bieng driven today.
The HANDLING is unlike any car i have driven. Makes you want to take those turns aggresively, its fun.
Bottom line, for the money you can't find abetter car....read morehide200 out of 202 people found this review helpful.

- Pros
- Engine technology, excellent handling, smooth transmission shifting, amazing looks, reasonable price
- Cons
- 91 years of car making cannot be a con, it's a plus in experience!
I opted to buy the New, restyled Mitsubishi Lancer for its amazing looks, engine technology, smooth shifting transmission (best in all car makers), excellent handling characteristics (similar to my Mercedes Benz), reasonable price vehicle and long, 10 year/100,000 mile warranty which assures me of long vehicle use and Mitsubishi long experience in car making (much longer than Toyota, Honda or Nissan)....read morehide

- Pros
- Decent feul economy, good handling, much better steering response, good brake
- Cons
- rear trunk shape doesn't right and short., don't the idea of feul filter in gas tank
Much better handling than Civic. The steering is responsive enough. Decent acceleration( o-60 in approximate 8.5 second). Great road holding and very good brake . Front look very sporty but the rear trunk is purely sedan;they don't fit together. Should redesign this edgy rear in couple years. Everything else is perfect for me....read morehide

- Pros
- Outclass other in its class with its styling, handling, performance and warranty!
- Cons
- There are none seen or felt.
The Mitsubishi Lancer is the epitome of a series of combinations that makes it the ideal car to own and gets the pleasure of driving it all together. The styling is the best I have seen and embodies the present and the future characteristic of cars, the handling is first rate that brings the combination of safety and agility to manuever in events in the blink of the eye, the performance culminates the heritage of Mitsubishi's racing experience that brings the best in its category and the warranty that makes it the clincher to buy it with the unsurpassed 10 year and 100,000 mile warranty, unprecedented among car manufacturers!...read morehide
