- reliable, good gas mileage, plenty of room in the back seat
- Back seat seat belts don't adjust
Purchased As Used
This is my third Mitsu. First was a Dodge colt (made by mitsu) which was 3 years old and I had for 8 years. Second was my Expo which I LOVED and was sad to retire it after 12 1/2 years (local dealer said we Expo drivers are like a cult!) And now my 2007 Outlander, bought as a program care (like the Expo). It's got so much room, yet I don't feel like I'm driving a tank. And the gas mileage is great. I got such a great deal on this car that I couldn't even touch a CRV or RAV.
But who would want to. My Mitsus have been so reliable, I'm not planning on needing a new car for at least 10 years. Now THAT'S good for the environment!!...read morehide

- good fuel economy, lots of compartments, smooth ride,
- back seat doesn't lay flat, front window has noise, can hear outside noise,
Nice looking car, got it because the place where I bought my Santa Fe ( which I hated) was not willing to help me trade the Santa Fe in. But in the long run .......... nothing beats a Jeep. As soon as this one is paid off I'm going right back to a Jeep. ....

- sporty, good accel, roomy, comfortable on long rides, takes an impact well
- not engineered for the cold - very hard "shifting" and breaking and less mileage in the cold
Overall satisfied with the vehicle. It's roomy and comfortable on long rides, was getting 24 mpg in the fall, great sound system, steering wheel controls are well placed, and the car takes an impact well - was rearended and only minor damage thanks to the breakaway panels.
However, you can tell it was NOT designed for the cold weather. Takes a while to warm up, and the 'shifting' on the CBT is very hard and jerky when the engine is cold. If the temp drops below 20 degrees you get the low tire pressure annoyance. If ice gets in the gas door it is a major pain to get open. Mileage has dropped significantly to about 16 mpg for me with the heat running, or perhaps it is just poor performance in the cold weather, I don't know.
On a more positive note, handling in the snow is excellent! Skid control in 2WD is very good, and 4WD control is amazing - very hard to purposely get it to spin out in either mode and have had no scares with normal driving.
I am satisfied with this purchase, but there are a few things that leave more to be desired - as is with any purchase....read morehide

- Power, looks, just about everything.
I did a lot of research when looking to buy my first SUV. This is really the best option for the price. Of course there are cars with more luxury then this one, but you will also have to end up paying about 5-10 thousand more. I really love this car, the Rockford sound system is amazing. The pick up power when passing or getting on the highway is awesome. I live in NYC and I'm averaging 19mpg, which is awesome IMHO. The only thing I would have liked better would have been leather seats, the micro-fiber seats are nice and they feel good, but I really wanted leather...read morehide

- Looks Great, good fuel economy, spacious, tow capacity, transmission VERY smooth
- Only 2 things: On a LONG trip, seats, no lumbar support. & interior door pannels are cheapo.
The car is fantastic! I've had it just over a month and put 3k mi on it. It drives wonderfully,
It looks great, handles like a gem, it's got great visability all around, good build quality.
My complaints: On a 10hr drive, my back was getting a bit sore as the seats do not have lumbar support. Also, the plastic interior door pannels are a bit cheap and scratch pretty easily.
All in all the complaints DO NOT COME CLOSE to making a dent in the good opinion I have of the vehicle.
I'd buy it again knowing what I do now!...read morehide

- Nice looking car, better performance than others, best warranty for the price1
- Fog lights should be included with the sunroof package!
I've been around for several weeks trying to find me the best car and found it in the mitsubishi Outlander. True the looks, MPG, comfort, performance, V6 engine, sunroof, navigation are all there, but to have a 10 year warranty included, it was a no brainer because I plan on keeping the car for a long time. Too bad for the other so called big names, they can't compete with Mitsubishi offer!...read morehide

if there was anything i would change from this amazing car it would be the seats......they should be standard leather...the electronic system should tell you when exactly you should get maintanance and gas consumption with the sport tronic engine should be less...

- Very elegant styling, excellent engineering design and very good company
The Outlander has made Mitsubishi a peoples car company because its success was a combination of Mitsubishi design and the peoples needs. I guess it just boils to Mitsubishi's 90 years in the car making process in Japan which started in 1917. It is Japan's oldest car maker, just like Ford or Mercedes Benz which started in their own country of origin. By stating this fact, it only proves that giving a 10 year/100,000 mile warranty is a reality only Mitsubishi can determine. Design engineers can makes materials last longer through engineering processes or could make it fail in short periods....read morehide
