I don't buy the poor rating or the "money pit" title. I tried a GM product before purchasing this 2005 Outlander. At 50,000 miles it was worn out and left my wife stranded several times on one trip. We had numerous large repair bills after the end of the warranty. We have driven two previous Mitsu products and they lasted forever. We will be trading this 2005 in on a 2010 this year. Our experience has been great with no out of pocket but maintenance items. I have always sold my old Mitsu with good return on my money. I have several people wanting to purchase this one when I trade. The 2005 appearance is weak compared to the new look, but I actually like the interior materials in our Outlander better--maybe they are using a little too much hard plastic in the new ones. Oh well, no car is perfect....read morehide

I have a 2004 model. I have spent very little money in maintenance other than brakes and oil changes. Very reliable. 80,000 miles and no problems. I will drive this car until it just stops, maybe 100,000 miles from now.

- Pros
- My experience has been flawless. More options for less money. MPG better than advertised.
- Cons
- May be slightly underpowered, but you reap the MPG. OME tires are terrible. 3rd row is novelty.

For $28k, you get more options and better MPG than any other small SUV out there not to mention the warranty. The AWD/2WD/4X4 system is great. Little creature comforts of flip down tailgate, adjustable rear seat, great NAV system, big sound system, and odor eating headliner make this suv the best bang for the buck IMO. Over 40k miles and I couldn't be happier. The cost of ownership has been minimal, gas, oil, and tires....read morehide

Overall a nice vehicle.I have a 2009 model. Don't understand all the negative press the vehicle has been getting.Maybe because there are so few dealerships. Intellichoice's alternate choice isn't much better in TOC(total cost ownership) yet the outlander is listed as "poor" by that consumer group. Decent mileage, good ride, roomy. So far reliability has been good. 4WD was tremendous this past winter!...read morehide

- Pros
- Handels Great
- Cons
- The ES has a cheap appearance.

I love the way the outlander rides and drives. The room inside is amazing. I bought the ES with the convenience package. I thought I was saving money. Then I became aware the SEs M.S.R.P. is only $750 more than the ES I purchased. The SE comes with 18 inch wheels, fog lights, a lot of chrome, 6 disc CD player and more. The outlander is a very good vehicle and is worth looking at. Be sure you know all the differences in standard features and price of each trim level. Do your homework before buying one!...read morehide

I have had my Outlander a month, just in time for The Northeast Blizzard. I commute 45 miles one way to work from the mountains of PA, I live on an unpaved road. 2wd option great for highway, 4wd lock gets me in/out of my unpaved road in snow. Handles very well, V6 gives good power on highway.Good value!...read morehide

- Pros
- It's a Mitsubishi. What do you expect? As great as the Lancer
- Cons
- Nothing really.

It is one of the best crossovers out in the market. The 2009 model has great looks but the 2010 is just outstanding in design, also in every aspect of the vehicle. No wonder, Mitsubishi always develops great products.

I bought this car new. It has all the space I need. So far the MPG has been 24 for my Semi-Highway driving. It has the option to drive it in 4 wheel drive or 2 wheel. Both are great. It does have slow acceleration but I did not buy it to race. So far I love this car.
