Great value

by vette owner (9/28/08)
Pros:Lots of features, comfortable and lots of power, also it gets over 28 mpg at 85 mph on interstate.
Cons:Road noise can be a bit much on long trips.

Great looks, lots of power, fun to drive, 18-19 mpg stop and go and over 28 at 85 mph on the interstate. I'll bet the 28 at 85 beats the Prius.

King of the road

by Dsinned from San Jose, CA (9/07/08)
Pros:Incredible bang 4 buck, definite head turner, superlative LS7 engine
Cons:Glare on NAV and no MP3/iPod support, extra cost colors, no lift off roof

This is really a phenomenal sport car. The performance is AWESOME. 99.999999% of other cars on the road are completely inferior to this Corvette, and the Z06 can hold its own with exotic imports that cost many times more. It is not only an outstanding performer, but has all the creature comforts to go with it, plus unlike most other sports cars, has plenty of storage space in the trunk and better than average visibility through all four windows. The only "bad" thing about owning and driving a car like this, is that on public roads it has no place it can go anywhere its top speed potential, short of the Autobahn! At less than four seconds to go from Zero to 60 is proof positive this ride is absolute king oif the road. As for the price, near the end of the 2008 model year, Chevy dealers were practically giving this cars away. Well, not quite, but GREAT DEALS were not hard to find. Worried about about buying an expensive sports car hard to keep running? Think again, all Corvettes are covered for 5 years and 100k miles by Chevrolet, plus OnStar is standard equipment if there should ever be a need for roadside assistance. It even gets pretty good gas mileage on the highway. In short, this is my DREAM CAR!

Hard to be Humble

by Carl Key from De Queen, Arkansas (8/10/08)
Pros:Quick and economical too. Hard to find that together. What can I say, it's a vette, best car ever
Cons:It's hard to be humble while driving my Vette.

This is my third Corvette and even though it is not top of the line, I absoloutley love it.

Race with the Wind

by sturnman from Naperville, Illinois (6/25/08)
Pros:Got 28.3 mpg on first shakedown run. Cruises at 100 rpm @70 mph
Cons:It is difficult to get in and out; the navigation is more complex than others I have had

Best sportscar I have ever owned. A dream to drive, the pure power is just incredible, especially with the silky 6 speed manual transmission.
On the open road driving thru the Blue Ridge Mountains on my first trip was almost a religious experience! This car was built to be driven around curves and the power is startling. Driving with top off at nite - the only way it could get any better is if Bo Derek was in the passenger seat!
A jet black beauty with cashmere interior and it evokes looks wherever you go. Come back to a parking lot and someone has stopped and is just staring in admiration. My 3rd vette but have not had one in 30 years - it was worth the wait.

Gotta' have it "factor."

by Matt from Yuba City, CA (6/18/08)
Pros:Acceleration, handling and value!!
Cons:Needs stickier tires

As a reformed Ford/SVT enthusiast, I can say with some authority, that 505 horsepower in the Z06 is nothing like the 500 hp of the GT500. The Z06 is so much faster, lighter and technologically advanced that I am ashamed to admit I used to think the two were similar! The Z06 style, feel, comfort, handling and speed make it the BEST bargain for a high performance car! Drive one! You, too, will be hooked!

EVERYONE SHOULD BUY ONE OF THESE....SERIOUSLY

by Doug K. from Hazlet NJ (6/11/08)
Pros:Great look, 28.6 mph on the hwy, excellant braking ability
Cons:Black on black gets very hot inside if parked in the sun, brakes squeak

This is my first Corvette and I really love this car. For the money you really can't find a better sports car. If you are driving on the highway at a good cruising speed you will get over 28 mph which is amazing for a car with this much power. I like the 0 - 60 speed but I am more impressed with the 60 - 90 speed as you pass someone with one tap on the gas pedal.

The car has a very comfortable driving position. Obviously as you get older it gets more difficult to get in and out but what could you expect from a sports car. I have the removable see thru roof which is great and looks much better that the more expensive convertable. I mean 50k for a car with a rag-top is "not" a good idea. A retractable hard top would be really cool but at a much higher price so i'll stick with the removable roof which is easy to remove anyway.

My wife told me I was nuts for getting a black car as you will see all the dust "all the time". She surely was correct about that but I liked the black the best so i'm dealing with the dust (hopefully i'll get a dust cover for fathers day).

Oh, one last thing, on the negative side, was the squeaking brakes after 2k miles. The dealer said that is normal but it is a flaw in the brakes that should be fixed

Corvette = Tequila Shot; Porsche = Fine Wine

by Ruben from Los Angeles, CA (6/05/08)
Pros:Value, Torque, Looks, Removable Top
Cons:Size, Interior Finish, Response

I own a black on black Corvette with a manual transmission, but I am not the typical driver: I'm 24 years old as opposed to 53, I'm a guy obsessed with cars rather than one who has a midlife crisis, and I have driven other sports cars. I had the chance to drive my bosses' 05 Carrera as well as the new Porsche Boxster S Special Edition, and I am trying to give a straightforward review that compares the pros and cons of the Corvette.

First off, let me say that for the money, the Corvette is a beast of a car. The power is utterly amazing, and the car looks like an exotic that costs tens of thousands, if not a hundred thousand, more dollars. I know that the z06 has even better handling and power, but this car is so fast that there is no reason to get one (and, I like to drive fast, so it's not like I got it to go 20 mph). The torque hits you like a shot of Tequila, and the car cannot be beat by anything in the price range, so it wins the value category hands down.

The fact that the Corvette has a lot of power, however, doesn't mean it's the best ride out there. The gripe I have about the car isn't really the handling, it's that the car is 1) too big and 2) feels like a boat. If you have driven the Carrera or Boxster, you feel like you are in a nimble vehicle and can fit in small places, whereas the Corvette feels like a yacht. Overall, even though the Corvette is low to the ground and has great handling capabilities, I have more confidence when I drive another vehicle. I rate comfort and appearance at 3 and 4 stars, respectively, because of the interior of the car (it doesn't make you feel like a million dollars like other cars do). In a weird way, comfort is tied to appearance, and you can savor the flavor of cars like the Porsche (i.ie the wine analogy)

The Corvette is great from the outside, but loses on the interior aspect. Compared to a 997 that looks clean and finished, the Corvette's interior just isn't that great. I still enjoy the car, but it needs some help... the interior should look clean and, in a sense, have a minimalistic feel. The outside looks purely amazing, and I can say that when the only vehicles that I think look better than a Corvette cost a lot more, such as Ferraris, Lambos, the Porsches that are either Turbos and/or have great kits, and the small but super rare exotics such as Nobles. The car evokes sex appeal, speed, and looks amazing, especially with the hard top removed. I think that the convertible is completely useless and detracts from the masculinity of the vehicle. To get a convertible rather than the coupe that has a removable top is to pay more for a car that looks worse. Additionally, driving a car that has a top that is removable as opposed to a convertible is much more comfortable at higher speeds.

Would I rather drive the Corvette or another car? I think it depends on age. Before thirty-five, it
